More About Coach Bennie

I have worked the last 7 years as a volunteer basketball coach for all ages, offering a number of winning championships and awards in each division. In the last 7 years, I have had the opportunity to train and mentor hundreds of youth interested in the sport and fun of basketball. I have also taught numerous private lessons over the last 7 years. Throughout my entire life, I have always loved and played myself. I was first team All-City, All-Region, All-District and Second Team All-State in high school. I was first team All-Conference in Junior College and received a full ride scholarship to play at Cumberland College, in Kentucky, where I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Communications. I currently coach girls Varsity Basketball at Cornerstone Charter Academy.. The role of Basketball Coach takes a lot of late nights, hard work, patience, and know how, which I have all.

I coach because of my passion for basketball. I am able to foster the growth of my players through the numerous opportunities that I have been fortunate to provide. I will mold a group of individuals to communicate, be responsible, and to hold them accountable. I believe in nurturing their dreams to be the best on and off the court.
I am a firm believer that if you have knowledge, you should pass it on to those who do not. I also believe that playing sports as a child, not only builds character and confidence, but also gives children a sense of accomplishment. It prepares them for life, working as a team or as a team player, not as an individual.
As a coach, I will create an environment that encourages athletes to learn and develop on and off the court, to create a positive learning environment. I think creating an environment that is relaxed and conducive to learning is important. In addition, the athlete needs to be aware of the standards and behaviors. This will allow the coaches and athletes to be prepared and to help create the optimal learning environment.
The athlete needs to be given opportunity to develop his skill level in a structured learning environment that constantly challenges the athlete while providing both encouragement and support. Each athlete needs to develop their core skills constantly to provide them with a solid base as they progress in their sport. The athlete will benefit when exposed to challenging drills that require effective decision making and precise execution under pressure. The repetitiveness of these varied drills during practice helps develop competency and confidence in the athlete.
When dealing with highly motivated and committed athletes, the level of individual communication is important, giving them the opportunity to provide input to help deliver the program that is specific to their development. I believe if you can set some short term goal with the athlete, this will provide them direction and motivation that will help to keep them on task.
As a coach, I will demonstrate effective leadership by maintaining the desired standards of behavior within the group that will instill confidence in all athletes knowing that their welfare and development is most critical. WE TRAIN OUTSIDE ON OUTSIDE COURTS.

Texas 5A All State, 1st Team All City, 1st Team All Region, 1st Team All District,

1st Team All Conference at Temple Junior College.

Multiple Player of the game awards at University of Cumberlands.

Had offers to go play abroad in Germany.

Please understand that we train out doors. Also, let me know what your child's strengths are and weaknesses. I prefer to work with children 4th grade and up.

Client Reviews

My company hired Coach Bennie to be one of the guest coaches at our full day sports event. He was absolutely wonderful and very qualified and prepared. He lead a skills lab with 28 youth athletes and members of the Orlando Waves, professional basketball team. Also, it was a long day and Coach Bennie's amazingly positive and professional demeanor made the event enjoyable for everyone who worked with him. We are definitely looking forward to the next opportunity to hire Coach Bennie. He's a fantastic coach and a great person!

Highly recommended, he quickly assessed my son and adjusted the training to fit my son's strengths and weaknesses.
Quick response, and very accommodating in scheduling around my busy schedule.
My son enjoyed the training and now is more energized and focused about playing basketball.
My son can't wait for the next training session with Coach Bennie.

To Whom It May Concern: This letter is a personal reference for Coach Bennie Tate, and his Wolves Basketball and personal training program. I have known Bennie for about seven years and he has trained and coached my son since he was 5 years old. He has been a Coach and trainer for a number of years and is highly respected in the coaching profession and highly respected among parents. I often hear parents rave about how much their kids have learned and become better players as well as better children at home working and playing with Coach Bennie. He also ensures that all grades and behavior at home, school and public meet the strict criteria of the Wolves Program. Coach Bennie is phenomenal at helping kids of all ages learn to play basketball. Coach Bennie is a tireless worker and “student of the game”. His philosophy and practice preparation separate him from most coaches, trainers and club programs. His emphasis on “defense” makes the Wolves program unique as players improve in every phase of the game. He stresses fundamentals and learning how to play the game the “right way” and as a result his players are known to have a high “Basketball IQ”. He is a tough, but fair, and every player has fun in the program. The Wolves program doesn’t cheat, and is into helping kids reach their highest potential. Coach Bennie knows how to prepare and take kids to Showcases in front of college coaches and has built a top travel team program. Every player that comes to Coach Bennie never leaves. They are committed to him and their careers. I give Coach Bennie my highest recommendation in any coaching position/training at any level. He will be a tremendous asset to any school program and any player.
