More About Coach Bennie

I bring 27 years of experience training youth, collegiate, and professional athletes. For over a decade, I’ve also coached AAU sports, helping athletes elevate their game and compete at the next level. I'm a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and a former semi-professional athlete with 15 years of experience competing in both basketball and football.

I currently serve as co-owner of Alpha Sports Performance, where we focus on developing athletes both physically and mentally. We believe that true success requires a relentless work ethic and a willingness to go beyond what others are willing to do. That’s why our program is built around a comprehensive approach, offering skill development, performance training, sports nutrition guidance, and recovery support.

Training Benefits Include:
Mobility • Stability • Injury Prevention • Functional Strength • Agility • Speed • Quickness • Vertical Leap • Basketball Skills • Game Concepts • Basketball IQ

I competed in semi-professional basketball and football for a combined 15 years, both overseas while serving in the U.S. Military and stateside across North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. During my athletic career, I was honored with three MVP awards and two Most Improved Player awards, along with numerous Offensive Player of the Week recognitions. I’ve been part of seven championship teams—four in football and three in basketball.

Being an athlete myself has given me valuable insight into how to properly prepare for competition, with a deep understanding of the demands of pre-season, in-season, and off-season training. I was consistently recognized as the player who showed up to camp in peak condition—something that often earned me a roster spot over athletes who relied solely on natural talent.

At the end of the day, hard work always wins.

Each training session begins with a proper warm-up using dynamic stretching to prepare the body for performance and reduce injury risk. I conduct an initial assessment with all new athletes, which includes a series of questions and drills designed to establish their current skill level and identify key areas for development.

My training incorporates a variety of proven techniques and drills, including off-hand ball handling, game-relevant dribbling, situational shooting, defensive strategy, court spacing, and effective off-ball movement. Throughout our sessions, we take time to break down individual play-by-play responsibilities, focus on team dynamics, and build confidence in high-pressure moments.

My goal is to develop well-rounded athletes who can confidently contribute on both ends of the court—regardless of position. In addition to on-court skills, I provide guidance and resources on nutrition, physical conditioning, and recovery—essential components that often separate good athletes from great ones.
