More About Coach Ben
I have several years of experience coaching and developing athletes at the NCAA Division I level. I have worked as a coach at the University of the Incarnate Word, as well as previously at Central Michigan University and DePaul University, where I focused on player development, skill training, scouting, and basketball operations. Through these roles, I have trained high-level college athletes while also working with younger players through youth camps, clinics, and individual skill sessions.
I work with all athlete groups ranging from elementary school through high school, as well as college players and professionals looking to improve specific areas of their game. My training focuses on skill development, footwork, shooting mechanics, decision-making, and building confidence on the court. Having coached and developed players at the Division I level, I bring a high standard of teaching while still making workouts engaging and tailored to each athlete’s skill level and goals.
I played high school basketball, competing around the United States and internationally for a highly competitive highschool team. After my playing career, I transitioned into coaching and player development, working with Division I programs at DePaul University, Central Michigan University, and the University of the Incarnate Word. Through these roles, I have continued to stay closely connected to high-level basketball, helping develop athletes and preparing them to compete at the college and professional levels.
A typical session is tailored to the athlete’s level, but every workout starts with a dynamic warm-up, ball-handling, and footwork work to build coordination and proper movement patterns.
Youth (Elementary / Middle School): Sessions focus heavily on fundamentals and building a love for the game. We work on ball-handling control, proper shooting mechanics, footwork, layups with both hands, and basic offensive moves. Drills are structured to keep players engaged while developing coordination, confidence, and strong habits that will translate as they grow.
High School: Workouts become more game-specific and position-focused. We emphasize advanced ball-handling, shooting off the catch and dribble, finishing through contact, creating space, and reading defenders. Players will also work on conditioning and competitive drills to simulate game situations and help prepare them for varsity-level competition or potential college recruitment.
Collegiate Athletes: Sessions focus on efficiency, decision-making, and high-level skill development. Workouts include shooting off movement, pick-and-roll reads, scoring out of different actions, and position-specific skill work. The goal is to refine details, increase consistency, and train at a game-like pace that prepares athletes for the speed and physicality of college basketball.
Professional Players: Workouts are extremely detailed and individualized. Sessions focus on maintaining elite skill levels, improving scoring efficiency, and sharpening reads within offensive systems. Training often includes high-repetition shooting, situational scoring, advanced footwork, and decision-making drills that translate directly to professional game scenarios.
Regardless of level, my goal in every session is to create a competitive, high-energy environment while providing detailed coaching and feedback that helps each athlete improve and gain confidence.

Boopie Miller - NCAA D1 Player at SMU (Testimonial)
After my freshman year at Central Michigan, I knew I had a strong season, but I also knew there were areas of my game that needed to improve if I wanted to take the next step. Working with Coach Ben really helped me tighten up the details—especially with my ball-handling, decision making, and creating scoring opportunities off the dribble. His workouts are intense and game-focused, so everything we worked on translated directly to real situations on the court. He pushes you to compete every rep and holds you accountable, which helped me raise my level and confidence going into the next stage of my career. If you want to improve your skills and understand how to apply them in games, Coach Ben will definitely help you get there.
Davion Bailey - UIW D1 Player / Southland Conference Leading Scorer (Testimonial)
Working with Coach Ben played a big role in helping me elevate my game. His workouts are intense but very intentional—everything we did translated directly to game situations. We spent a lot of time on shot creation, footwork, and getting to my spots under pressure, which helped me become a more confident scorer. What I appreciated most was how detailed he was with the small things like balance, shot preparation, and reading defenders. Those details helped me improve my efficiency and consistency throughout the season. If you’re serious about getting better and want a coach who will push you while helping you understand the game, Coach Ben is someone I definitely recommend training with.
