More About Coach Benissa
I have been training and coaching youth basketball athletes for 9 years. I have worked with kids from as young as 5 years old all the way through High school. I specialize working with Middle-School and High School athletes. I started my coaching career back in 2015 as a youth basketball camp coach and quickly worked my way up working for youth basketball organizations in the Bay Area. I was a head JV girls basketball coach and assistant varsity girls coach for 2 seasons in 2016-2018. After that, I co-founded a girls AAU program for 2 years and worked as a physical education teacher in San Jose where I assisted Varsity girls team with skill development at the same time I also assisted with player development and coached 1 AAU girls team. During 2020-2022 I conducted virtual basketball trainings for young athletes wanting to continue their development. 2022-Current I am now working as a youth and athletic director wanting to continue my passion for youth basketball skill development.
I played Basketball all my life. Most relevant accomplishments were I played on my varsity basketball team as a freshman and played starting point guard. I got a scholarship to go play NCAA Division II at University Alaska Fairbanks. At the conclusion of my collegiate basketball career. I continued to play in San Francisco Women’s Pro-AM teams in the Summers from 2016-2018.
What a client can expect from me is to help them develop a solid foundation of the basics all the while attacking weaknesses that will take their game to the next level. Specific drills I like to focus on is ball-handling, footwork, shooting, conditioning I like to focus on the whole athlete working on their Mental IQ of the game, and the physical body. The first session I have with a client will be an assessment to see where their current skill set is at from there I am able to provide feedback to the client about where I believe their skills can improve. I provide homework and film to watch to further develop the athlete.
