More About Coach Beau

I have over six years coaching experience and have worked with middle school kids, high school, and post collegiate athletes. I have coached at Rigby Junior High School and Rigby High School in both track and cross country. I have also coached for Teton Road Runners, a not for profit running club, that promotes distance running for health and fitness among all age groups (typically adults). I have helped many achieve their running goals, whether qualifying for the Boston marathon or just getting faster and more fit. I have USATF Level 2 Endurance event certification.

I have been a recreational runner for over twenty years. I have completed sixteen marathons with a personal best at 2:51 (Boston 2010). I am regionally competitive and able to place in my age division in most local races. Most notably, I am still chasing personal records and striving to be faster.

A typical session with me would start with reviewing the goals, the customized training plan the athlete is following, and the athlete's progress. Every session would be different depending on the workout and goals. For example, if greater running efficiency is the goal, the principles of efficient running would be reviewed followed by a video analysis of the athlete's running form. After reviewing the athlete's current strengths and weaknesses bio-mechanically, some drills and proprioceptive cues would be taught to the athlete and the athlete's mastery of them confirmed. The session would finish out with a training run and flexibility work. A different session may be set up around an interval workout (e.g. 12x400m) or a tempo run. The athlete's goals, abilities, and performance guide everything in the coaching sessions.
