More About Coach Bakari

I’ve coached in summer camps and team camps for years throughout my career, at the University of Iowa, Valparaiso University, and Nebraska University which were all colleges I played for as well. Ive also had the pleasure of working with some of the top trainers country such as Phil Beckner (Damian Lillards Trainer) who was my assistant coach at Nebraska university when I played there. Ive worked with kids mostly from age 6+ and am familiar with kids with all different levels of experience.

4X High school state champion ( 3 In Michigan, 1 in Arizona)

2x MIACC Conference Player of the Year
All time leader in scoring and assist and steals at Southfield Christian Hs
Rivals top 150 player

And I’m still currently active and playing professionally.

A client can expect great energy and a positive attitude thats invested in making them a better player. I usually structure my workouts to the skill level of the athlete. It can range from basic fundamental drills to more advance college/pro prep drills. I try to develop the Strengths of my client while also improving the weaknesses.

Bakari was great with my daughter. He was positive and fun. In her first session with him he corrected a few of her ball handling skills that improved her free throws and layups. We will be continuing to train with him!

Hayden is obsessed with basketball and we didn’t mention to Bakari that Hayden has been diagnosed with sensory and yet Bakari, per Hayden, was teaching him in a way that he could understand and not trying to change all of his natural ways of standing etc. but helping advance his game despite that. Hayden said that Bakari would be one of the best coaches he ever will have.
