More About Coach Austin
USSF National C license Candidate. USSF National D License. Coerver National Diploma. NFHS Level 3 Soccer. United Soccer Coaches Level 2 Goalkeeper Coach.
I’ve been a coach for 10+ years but have been involved as a player and referee for over 25 years.
Currently coach for Nebraska Roots ages 4-19 rec and travel club soccer. I earned the United Soccer Coaches Youth Coach Award of Excellence for the 2025-2026 soccer year.
I played competitive travel club in my youth and continued playing throughout high school land college. During college my passion shifted toward coaching, where I have spent years helping players develop their technical skills, soccer IQ, confidence, and love of the game.
I have coached numerous players to make their school teams and make selection for ODP teams.
Every player begins with a Player Assessment to establish a baseline and identify strengths, areas for improvement, and individual goals. From there, every session is tailored to the athlete’s age, experience, position, and aspirations.
A typical session begins with a dynamic warm-up and ball mastery before progressing into technical training. Depending on the player’s needs, we may focus on dribbling, first touch, passing, receiving, shooting, finishing, defending, 1v1 situations, goalkeeping, position-specific skills, or soccer IQ. As players improve, exercises become increasingly game-realistic by incorporating decision-making, scanning, movement off the ball, and performing under pressure.
While most sessions are one-on-one, I also offer small-group training. Every session is designed to maximize touches on the ball, provide meaningful feedback, and build confidence through purposeful repetition. When appropriate, I may also incorporate age-appropriate athletic development, including agility, strength and conditioning, and proper body mechanics to support long-term player development and injury prevention.
My goal is to help every athlete become a more confident, well-rounded soccer player while developing a lifelong love of the game.

Ryan - New Coach (Testimonial)
As a first-time rec coach myself, Austin helped me understand how to plan practices, keep players engaged, and focus on age-appropriate development. His guidance gave me confidence, and I left each conversation with practical ideas I could use immediately. I became a better coach because of his mentorship.
Dylan (Testimonial)
Coach Austin does an excellent job communicating with both players and parents. He provides honest feedback, sets realistic goals, and celebrates progress along the way. It’s clear he genuinely cares about each player’s development!
Harper (Testimonial)
My daughter and some of her teammates wanted to do some private lessons together. Coach Austin quickly recognized each child’s strengths and areas for improvement. Even though they trained together, every player received individual feedback and coaching. We noticed improvements in confidence, technical skills, and decision-making after just a few sessions.
Jess (Testimonial)
Every drill had a purpose and looked like something our daughter would actually face during a match. After several sessions, she was more composed in 1v1 situations, finished more chances, and made better decisions in the final third. Her club and school coaches are also glad we got her into extra lessons!
Sara (Testimonial)
My daughter wanted to become a more confident striker, and Coach Austin built every session around realistic finishing situations. She became much more comfortable shooting with both feet, timing her runs, and finishing under pressure. Her confidence in front of goal has grown tremendously!
Dad of 3 - Micah/Eric/Landon (Testimonial)
We have three kids with very different skill levels, and Coach Austin did an amazing job keeping each of them engaged. Our boys were each challenged appropriately had their own individual development plan. Being able to train the kids together with Coach Austin allowed a shared love of the game in our house to grow this summer. My boys have a new confidence going into their fall season!
Brittney (Testimonial)
Our daughter wanted position-specific goalkeeper training, and Coach Austin delivered. He broke techniques down into simple steps and helped her become much more confident coming off her line and making decisions. We would highly recommend him to any goalkeeper.
Ben (Testimonial)
Coach Austin challenged my son every session while keeping training enjoyable. The drills were game-like and focused on skills he could immediately use in matches. I especially appreciated the feedback and the emphasis on soccer IQ, not just technical ability.
Emily (Testimonial)
The individual attention made a big difference. Coach Austin quickly identified areas my daughter needed to improve and created sessions specifically for her. Her first touch, confidence on the ball, and decision-making improved noticeably. She looked forward to every lesson.
Owen (Testimonial)
Coach Austin made learning soccer fun from the very first lesson. Our son was nervous at first, but his confidence grew every week. He explained skills in a way that was easy to understand and always encouraged effort over perfection. We saw a huge improvement in both his ball skills and his enthusiasm for the game.
