More About Coach Ashley
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport and Exercise Science and am certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Physiologist. I have experience as a coach with Orangetheory Fitness and as a fitness instructor with Pure Barre. I host a weekly running group and have helped individuals prepare for events such as a 10K, 15K, and Half-Marathon. I work with individuals between the ages of 16 and 65.
I was a competitive dancer with an award winning dance studio in Michigan. This fueled my passion for physical activity and my desire to pursue a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. In the past year, I have participated in four Half-Marathons and have been able to knock off 15 minutes from my very first event in October 2014. I have developed a training program that has allowed me to set a new personal record with each event. As your coach I will establish a training program specific to you an your goals and help you reach those personal records as well.
A typical session is 60 minutes. This can include speed work, technique drills, and strength training depending on the goals. Every client will receive a strength training program as this is commonly overlooked in runners. Strength training may be included as part of a session or the client may perform it on his/her own. For a session that includes speed work, it would include a dynamic warm up, speed work drills, and a cool down. In addition I will look at and discuss the progress made from one session to the next.
