More About Coach Ashlee
I have experience coaching and training athletes through local recreational leagues as well as private 1-on-1 training sessions in my community. I’ve worked with players as young as 2 years old all the way up to high school athletes, focusing on building fundamentals, improving basketball IQ, and developing well-rounded skills for every position.
My own basketball journey began at 5 years old, and I went on to compete throughout high school and college, earning a scholarship along the way. In addition, I have over 10 years of experience refereeing basketball, which gives me a unique perspective on the game, helping athletes understand not just how to play, but how to play smart within the rules.
Whether an athlete is just starting out or looking to refine advanced skills, I tailor each session to their individual needs to help them grow in confidence, discipline, and ability on the court.
In a typical session, athletes can expect a mix of skill development, conditioning, and game-situation drills tailored to their age and skill level. I always start with a dynamic warm-up and ball-handling drills to get them engaged and moving with the basketball.
From there, we’ll focus on key fundamentals such as shooting form, footwork, passing, and defense. I break each skill down into simple drills first, then build into more advanced, game-like situations so players can translate what they learn into real competition. For example, we may work on shooting mechanics at close range, then progress into off-the-dribble or catch-and-shoot drills.
I also put emphasis on basketball IQ—helping athletes understand spacing, decision-making, and how to read the defense. Each session ends with conditioning and confidence-building challenges to keep them motivated and tracking their progress.
Every workout is customized to the player’s goals, whether that’s learning the basics, preparing for a team tryout, or sharpening advanced skills. My goal is to make sure each athlete leaves the gym better, more confident, and excited to keep improving.
