More About Coach Tony

Tony Dunn is a basketball skills trainer and coach based in Los Angeles, CA. Dunn played at Park Rose High School (2009) in Portland, OR, where he averaged 19 ppg, 9 rpg, and 3 apg on 50% shooting. He went on to play college basketball at El Camino College (2013-2014) in Torrance, CA. His time at El Camino helped him earn both athletic and academic scholarships to Clark College (2014-2015) in Vancouver, WA. Dunn earned NWAC All-Academic Team honors and helped lead Clark to a 25-6 record. Clark finished their season going the distance in a dominant 78-59 win over Edmonds College to become the Northwest Athletic Conference Champions (2015).

Dunn has been the lead assistant coach of Geffen Academy at UCLA’s Boys' Varsity Basketball team (2019-2024). During his time, Dunn helped the Geffen boys reach the playoffs three of his five seasons as assistant coach. Since taking over the team’s offense in the fall of 2022, Dunn helped lead the team to a 23-22 record in his final two seasons as compared to an 8-37 record the team had had in its four seasons prior.

In the spring and summer of 2022, Dunn began coaching AAU basketball with Sports Academy Swish GBL’s 17 National (LA) team. The 17 National (LA) team would go on to win the highly spotlighted Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago, IL, finishing with an undefeated 6-0 record at the tournament’s end. The success of the 17 National (LA) team helped earn eight of the team’s ten student-athletes athletic and academic scholarships to NAIA, NCAA-Division III, and NCAA-Division II colleges.

In the fall of 2023, Dunn was hired as an assistant coach with California State University, Dominguez Hills Women’s Basketball team, specializing in player development and opponent scouting. Dunn helped lead CSUDH to a record of 31-3, a historic 19 game win streak, and both a NCAA Division II Conference Championship and NCAA Division II Regional Championship (2023). Their season ended in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.

In the summer of 2024, Dunn will be inducted into the Clark College Hall of Fame.

Dunn has coached and trained athletes at the elementary, middle school, high school, collegiate, and professional level. He aspires to give back to the game, sharing wisdom collected over the years and being a positive force in the lives of athletes on and off the court.
