More About Coach Antonio

I am currently the track coach for 2 CYO track teams. I also coach my own team called KING Speed. I typically work with children from ages 5-18. However I do privately train collegiate athletes, high school athletes, and as well as beginners. I am also USATF certified.

I started running track and field my senior year in High School and placed third in the state of NJ for the 400 hurdles. I then committed to run at California University of Pennsylvania. At Calu I was coached by Roger Kingdom, a two time gold Olympic hurdler. Where I went on to be the best freshman in the conference. Unfortunately my running career came to an end due to injury. However because of that injury I started coaching at local high schools and track meet. In that I found my passion for coaching and teaching the next generation of runners.

Depending on what level the athlete is at. I will focus on form and endurance. These two elements are very important when it come to running at a high level. Correct running mechanics is very important to the sport. It is foundation that must be understood in order to succeed in the sport. Endurance is also very important. Being able to hold your top speed for a longer distance is another key to being successful in the sport.

How a practice will look. You will drop your athlete or athletes off at the local track. You are also more than welcome to stay and observe. Once your athlete arrives, they will be instructed to run two warm up laps. The reasoning behind the warm up laps is to get the body and your heart rate prepared for practice. Once the athlete competes the warmup laps. They will get water and get ready for our warmup drills. This is where we do our running mechanics drills and our mobility stretches. We will do 8-10 different drills every practice. Once the warmup drills are complete. They will get some water and we will start our workout. Each workout is specially designed to cater the needs to each athlete or athletes in attendance. After the workout is completed they will get water and finish with 2 cool down laps. When they finish the cool down laps we will stretch and finish with practice. Through pior conversation and observation I will be able design the best session for you or your athlete to help them achieve all there running goals!!
