More About Coach Anne
I have been very active all my life, running, swimming, cycling and backpacking. But my true passion is for Iyengar Yoga.
I am a certified Iyengar Teacher, I completed a 500h training program at the San Francisco Iyengar Yoga Institute, and then have passed successfully three-certification levels in the Iyengar teaching system (Intermediate Junior 1). I have been teaching for the last 10 years vary diverse age groups, currently more specifically senior athletes (Olympic Club of San Francisco) age 60-90; and I teach group and private classes for any ages. Iyengar Yoga is very well suited for athletes who work with injury recovery, alignment yoga minded students. In my experience it is an invaluable add-on to any athletic activity, in addition to flexibility gain, it increases focus, concentration, body and breath awareness.
The Iyengar teaching requirements are probably the most rigorous of any yoga schools. It is a life time process, teachers have life time teacher mentors, we are required to continuous education with Senior teachers at conventions, classes, workshops etc... We don't mix teaching styles. In my more active years, I ran the NYC marathons few times, I swim at the Dolphin Club in San Francisco (open water swimming with no wet suit) and I am an avid hiker/ back packer.
Yoga is a little different from other personal training system. Typically I work with students who simply are not interested in group classes and want specific help (hip tightness, hamstring, low back vulnerability...); some students are recovering from injuries and want to incorporate more mindfulness to their activities. Iyengar Yoga is not an aerobic, cardio, loud music style of yoga. You will work with precision, skill and alignment.
