More About Coach Andrew

Following my senior season at Washington State University and a short time with the Seattle Seahawks in May 2014, I decided to start my own company with a goal to give back to kickers and punters in the Pacific Northwest. Since the start of Furney Kicking Academy I have worked will all ages of kickers from grade 6-12 as well as those at the college level.

NFL CAREER:
After graduating from Washington State University in 2014, Coach Furney received interest from multiple NFL teams. After the 2014 NFL Draft, Furney was extended the offer to attend the previous years Super Bowl Chanpions Seattle Seahwaks Rookie Mini Camp where he went on to have an impressive showing. Shortly after, Coach Furney was given the opportunity to attend Veteran Mini-Camp with the New York Jets with the opportunity to compete for a contract. After the camp, Furney was offered the contract and an opportunity to compete for the starting placekicking job in the upcoming NFL preseason. After being relased by the Jets in August 2014, he once again signed by the Jets in January of 2015.

COLLEGE CAREER:
Coach Andrew Furney Started his collegiate career as an under the radar walk on at Washington State University and later received a full ride scholarship following his true-freshman season. At his time at WSU Furney was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection, named to the Lou Groza Award Watch List twice and a semifinalist once. During his career Furney would accumulate the 3rd most makes in school history and end his career with the 2nd best career field goal percentage in school history. As a Sophomore, Furney notched himself into school history by setting a new school record for best single season field goal percentage in school history (87.5%). As a Junior Furney again made a statement as a premier collegiate kicker after a 60 yard field against Eastern Washington just before halftime which was the 2nd longest in both WSU and Pac-12 history. In the 2012 Apple Cup Furney showed off his ability to make big kicks in high pressure situation when he hit a 45 yard game-tying field goal with just under two minutes remaining in the game, sending the game to over time where he then hit a game winning 27 yarder. As a Senior, Furney again showed off his ability to make clutch kicks after he hit a game winning 42 yard field goal against USC in the Los Angeles Coliseum ensuring a 10-7 WSU victory. During his time at Washington State, Furney also showed off his combination of both accuracy and leg strength by ending his career 18 for 22 on attempts from 40-49 yards and making four field goals from beyond 50 yards.

-*PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR A LESSON IN ADVANCE BEFORE REACHING OUT OT ME*-

My outlook on kicking and punting and kicking is that every persons body works differently and as a result, will have their own unique style. Watch any kicker or punter in the NFL and you will see that every kicker has their unique characteristics that work for them.

In my lessons no two lessons will be the same. Every lesson begins with me watching the student hit between 3 and 5 kicks and videoing them on my camera that has ultra slow motion replay capabilities. The student and I then proceed to breakdown the film and see what we like as well as things we wish to improve on and then tailor the lesson accordingly.

Following the lesson, video recorded during the lesson will be sent to you as well as a few clips from me kicking as well so you can check back on them as references as well as to asses your progress.

Client Reviews

My son and I drove 6 hours from our small town in Oregon to get private lessons from Andrew. After the lessons we both concluded it was well worth every mile of the drive. Andrew provided my son with more instruction in the first 2 hours than he received in two days at another company’s kicking camp. When we left, my son was kicking much better and knew exactly what he needed to improve his technique and practice more effectively. We have already signed up for more private lessons from Andrew and my son is also excited to attend Andrew’s summer kicking camp.
