More About Coach Andrew
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, I immediately jumped into coaching at the high school level whenever possible. During the summer of 2019 I worked as the hurdles coach for the UNH track and field summer camp. During this week long camp we streamlined a competitive season into one week. I taught the students, who ranged from 7th-12th grade drills, block starts, and three stepping for the high hurdles, and rhythm and timing with the intermediate hurdles. During the 2019-2020 school year I was working at Noble High School in North Berwick, Maine and coached cross country and indoor track. I volunteered my time in cross country, mostly helping students with form and speed drills. During indoor, I was hired as a hurdle and sprint coach. I focused mainly on hurdles and block starts for both the boys’ and girls’ teams. I coached a male and female conference champion in the 55m hurdles, as well as a male conference and state champion in the 55m dash. Through the season, I also coached numerous school records, and personal bests for nearly every student that I worked with. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the outdoor season was cancelled. This coming year I will be teaching at Chelmsford High School, continuing to help students reach their fullest potential in the classroom and on the track (or field!).
I competed as a hurdler and sprinter at Andover High School in Andover, MA and the University of New Hampshire. I have a PR of 14.95 in the 110 hurdles, 59.13 in the 400 hurdles, and 5’ 8” in high jump. My biggest accomplishment during my career was winning the national championship in the shuttle hurdle relay at NBIN in 2015. My team was also the runner up at NBON 2015, where I also competed in the EE 110 Hurdles. I was also an all-conference hurdler in high school, coming in 4th at the MIAA division one championships and 7th place at the MA All State meet. At the University of New Hampshire, I was a competitive high hurdler, competing at the America East Conference Championships every season that I competed. I placed at the conference championships in the 2017 outdoor season (7th), as well as both 2019 indoor (7th) and outdoor (6th) seasons. In both high school and college, I am most proud of my appointment as captain, and my ability to bring the most out of my teammates. In high school I recruited and coached my teammates in the hurdles, and they eventually were able to meet and surpass my times. I continued to help younger athletes through both high school and college improve, leading me to my desire to be a coach, often more than I wanted to be an athlete.
Over the course of my competitive and coaching careers I have gathered a number of different training plans in order to help improve power, strength, flexibility, agility, speed, endurance and technique through numerous different track and field events. A session working with me will be individually catered to the athlete and the skills they are hoping to improve. A big aspect of my coaching is maintaining an open line of communication so that they have a say in where they would like to improve and give them the required tools to help them reach their goals. I will set up a schedule for the athlete to follow, and we will spend every session focusing on the necessary steps for their goals to be met. Every session we will start with an extensive warmup followed by drills to ensure safety and flexibility as an important focus. We will then turn to the focus of the day, whether it is hurdle/jumping drills, running form drills, explosive activities, endurance workouts, or speed training. At the end of each session we will wrap up with a core, flexibility or strength exercise, as well as provide the student athletes with resources to help them train successfully on their own at home.

Coach Andrew is the first one-on-one coach who has worked with my daughter. She is a senior this year and after missing her junior track season I wanted to have her train during her off season. She was a bit nervous about the idea of one on one training but after meeting her coach she immediately felt at ease. Coach Andrew is a Division 1 athlete and watching the workouts - you can definitely see it! He has shown her many different drills to help improve her block starts - her speed - and overall fitness. My daughter is very happy with the tough workouts he provides - even when she can barely move the next day! :) I definitely recommend Coach Andrew for anyone who is looking to improve themselves and go to the next level.
Daniel Lawrence/Head Boys and Girls Track and Field Coach, Noble High School, North Berwick, ME (Testimonial)
I have had the privilege of interviewing, hiring and working with Andrew for an indoor track and field season at Noble High School in North Berwick Maine. From the onset I was drawn to Andrew’s professionalism and knowledge in the sport, specifically in the skill set of Hurdles. I was pleased to see that Andrew also had a strong command in facilitating efficient and effective practice plans and procedures, as well as the ability to develop appropriate and productive relationships with the student athletes.
