More About Coach Amanda

USATF Certified running coach, I have been coaching for the past five years, and I have been running for the past 25 years. I started out running competitive track in school, specializing in the 400m and 800m. 15 years ago I began running longer distances, starting with a 10k race working my way up to marathons. After completing dozens of marathons, I started running ultra marathons, varying in length from 31 miles to 100 miles.

In addition to running, I have also completed eight triathlons including two half ironman races.

A firm believer in coaching, I have been coached myself for most of my running career. Besides my formal coaching education, I have learned a great deal from my coaches, training partners as well as the athletes I coach. I love passing on this vast information I have learned to others and be able to specifically apply it to each athlete's individual needs.

I found my love of running in Junior High by specializing the 400m distance in track and field, and continued competing on the track through high school. In my mid 20s I conquered my first marathon, and 42 marathons later I am still running strong! After looking for a challenge beyond the marathon distance, I finished my first 50k and then moved on to the 50 mile distance. Through help of coaches, I was able to become relatively successful running the marathon and 50 miles. My marathon PR is 3:16 and my 50 mile PR is 7:29:39, an average pace of 9:00 per mile. Realizing how beneficial and knowledgeable my coaches were inspired me to become educated myself so I could pass down my knowledge to other runners.

My initial meetings with athletes include an assessment to determine their current fitness level and goals. I then would run with them and analyze their gait and shoes. We would then discuss what their weekly schedule is like so that we can work out a progressive schedule that incorporates balance with work, family and other life activities. Communication and feedback is incredibly important to monitor any potential injuries and to know when to move up to the next level.

Coach Amanda is awesome! She is caring, compassionate, and a definite Run Pro. Amanda is helping me with some pretty specific goals. I don't know what I would do without her.

Amanda has been maybe the most important tool I have to achieving my goals in running. In only a 8 months she coached me from being able to run a half mile to a full marathon. Her focus on staying healthy throughout your training is great and puts your mind at ease.

Amanda was an awesome resource in coaching my 14 year old daughter who wanted to run a marathon. Her weekly plans were detailed and well thought out. I was concerned about my daughters age, but Amanda paid close attention to my daughter health throughout the training. Her race plan for the marathon was perfect and my daughter ran a great race and most importantly she had fun and loved the experience and finished under 4 hrs!. Amanda depth of knowledge and experience make her an excellent resource whether you are trying to be competitive or just want to make and complete a big goal like a marathon.

Coach Amanda is great! I went into the session believing that I my form and gait was completely wrong and that I had a lot to improve upon. Amanda reassured me that I was not as bad as I thought which gave me confidence in my running. She told me things that I did need to improve. She gave me drills and after a few weeks of practicing them, I feel my run is smoother and more efficient. She is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I definitely recommend her as a coach whether you are beginning out or just need a little tweaking.

Coach Amanda is the perfect coach! I'm a 62 year old woman who signed up to run the Marathon for charity. My goal is to cross the finish line - injury free. We first met to assess my needs. Amanda ran with me to check out my running form. She also emailed a plan for stretching, core exercises and running goals. Amanda is knowledgeable, thoughtful and inspiring. I feel fortunate to have her as my coach.

Great initial meeting. Discussed my goals, experiences and went for a short run to have a good feel for my current status. We discussed plans moving forward and Coach Amanda sent my weekly training plan to me that same night.

She was very thorough, and gave me a great schedule to follow during the week when I'm not with her. Definitely will book again!

I have never worked with a professional coach before, and was not sure what to expect. Coach Amanda was extremely responsive to my questions and setting expectations. She took time to get to know me and understand my goals then explained her approach to training and how she'd like to proceed. She actively participates in my workouts providing on-the-spot feedback as well as motivation. Her energy and encouragement is infectious and she pushes me just far enough that I reach paces I did not think I could run. My overall experience is extremely positive and I look forward to continued training for the foreseeable future.

Coach Amanda is the exact type of coach I was looking for. I have some lofty goals I want to accomplish and couldn't have asked for a better coach to make these dreams a reality. Coach Amanda does an excellent job of listening, observing where you are in the process and setting up weekly plans so you can successfully achieve your goals. Not to mention, she always available and is quick to respond to any question you have. If things go awry due to injury, she does a wonderful job of being encouraging and getting you back on your feet ASAP. I'd recommend Coach Amanda to anyone of my friends or family. Thanks, coach!!

Coach Amanda was great. She listened to my concerns and after seeing me run made some suggestions for improvement. I appreciate the training plans to help me reach my goals!

Coach Amanda gave me some great tips on my form along with some drills and stretches to help with my hip rehab. She also shot some video of my gait so I could see the issue and share with my PT. I will be scheduling with her again in the Spring. Finished a little early, I probably should have asked more questions!

Coach Amanda is excellent! She's been a huge help as I trained to significantly improve my pace for my 4th consecutive Chicago Marathon. The race is in 2 weeks and I am going into it stronger and faster than ever.

I never worked with a coach before and I was looking for someone to help guide me to try and improve my running as well as assist in balancing my running and cycling schedule. Amanda has been great. It's a huge relief to not worry about what my schedule is - she just tells me what to do and I do it! She provides me almost daily feedback any time I send her my results of a workout. She adjusts when I run into a wall but also pushes me to improve! I took 20+ minutes off my half marathon time and am looking to improve even more for my 2nd half of the year. She is responsive, helpful and knows what she's doing! You can't go wrong with Amanda as your coach!

Coach Amanda has provided a wealth of info for me to improve my running. She's been on-time and always available for me with answers to my many questions. I would highly recommend her.

We have only been working with Amanda for a brief time, but she has been terrific! She has been working with my daughter during track season and has given her valuable instruction and feedback throughout. Amanda is very generous with her time and attention.

Amanda has been a tremendous help to me and a great choice for a personal running coach. She took the time to understand my abilities, my current training challenges and needs, then tailored a training regimen to help me get on the path to achieving my goals. She followed up on what she said she would do and provided valuable feedback for me to help me understand where I needed to improve. She gave me valuable tips to help with the physical and mental challenges of long distance running. I highly recommend Amanda to anyone who is serious about taking their running training to the next level.

Amanda is a knowledgeable coach. She knew exactly how to pace me, explained why the training was set up the way it was, she knew all the details of buying shoes, socks, training muscles, and proper eating and hydration. and running with her for 2-3 hours, she's great conversationalist and she knows everybody on every running trail! Highly recommend her. If she can get me to complete a marathon, as someone who has never ran during high school, college, and most of my adult years, then she can train anyone to run a marathon.
