More About Coach Alexander

Over the past decade I have been heavily involved in the coaching/training of youth lacrosse players. The primary age groups I have instructed at camps have been between 8-18 years of age, however I have instructed both older and younger players as well. Primarily coaching in the northeast (from Washington, DC to New York) I have also had the opportunity to run lacrosse development leagues in Germany and Turkey.
The greatest coaching/training accomplishment I can list would be the success my younger brothers have had in lacrosse at the collegiate level. One brother was an All-American at Tuft's University (NCAA Division III Champions) while the youngest played 4 seasons of Division I lacrosse at the University of Virginia.

During high school, I was a starting midfielder for one of the top 10 teams in the country. Listed by Inside Lacrosse magazine as one of the nation's "Dark Horse" recruits, I went on to play in all 63 games of my 4 year Army lacrosse career at the United States Military Academy (West Point). During my time competing at the Division I level, I earned the Army Lacrosse "Unsung Hero" award twice for my performance on the field.
After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, I served as an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army for 5 years. To end my military service, I competed as one of 100 contestants in the 2014 U.S. Army Best Ranger Competition (I was one of only 48 to finish the 3 day/84 mile event).

Obviously each client requires individual attention but there are core fundamentals that I often incorporate into my regular sessions. Having experience at Attack, Midfield, and Defense, I always coach/train by example in all of my drills. It is important to me that each player can take away skills to practice on their own whether that be an improvement in stick skills, footwork, off-ball movement, lacrosse focused fitness, or simply improving their lacrosse IQ.

fantastic!

Coach Alex was awesome. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better session for my son. I'm sure he got more reps in one hour than he has gotten in a week with of team practices. Alex is very knowledgeable of all aspects of the game. He played tough defense on our boys and made them work hard. Alex's athleticism is incredible as he ran with them the entire time. He will get right in and and show exactly what he is teaching. He gave them wall ball and footwork workouts and worksheets to keep them accountable. My son is already asking when his next session is. Alex worked them hard and made it fun. He also has great communication and very easy to work with. Highly highly recommend.

Alex was excellent. He had a great deal of experience and knowledge which helped to ensure a successful coaching session. He helped my daughter to take a more aggressive approach to playing and that was an important goal. Highly recommend him!

Coach Alexander is a great lax coach!!! He is working on improving every aspect of the game with my 15-year-old son. Not only does he demonstrate technique and teach what he wants you to learn, he participates the entire session whether that means defending/checking my son while he shoots on the run, or having my son defend against him while on the run. We have worked with other coaches before, but his athleticism and participation make for a more realistic game-like setting, enabling my son to learn faster. I am thrilled we found such a great coach!

Knowledgeable and very good rapport with the player. Gets directly involved to demonstrate the right technique.

Coach Alex is a solid coach for my 7yr. old son. My son has limited lacrosse experience and Alex was able to quickly adapt his lesson plan to match my son's skill set. He also passed on individual drills that my son could work after the session was over.

Coach Alexander was a lot of fun to work with. He always had something new to say after every dodge and his tips made sense. Even with his impressive skills, he was throwing realistic checks that I see every day at practice and during my high school games. Overall I learned a lot and was able to get great exposure to a great coach. I recommend Alexander for all ages and hope to work with him again soon

Coach Alex is outstanding with my son. He took the time to assess where my son was, and then built a program specifically tailored to improve his game. Alex is a talented Coach that has the gift of being able to convey his knowledge in the most accessible way possible. Look no further you have found one of the good ones.

Coach Alexander is a great coach, helping my 7 year old learn lacrosse. Very responsive and excellent attitude

My son has had an excellent experience with Coach Alex over several coaching sessions. I appreciate his thorough pre-planning, his targeted sessions, and especially his concrete game plan for my son to follow *in between* sessions. Alex has taken the time to tailor his program around my sons club lacrosse coaches critiques in a way that provides him a great opportunity to improve.

Alex brings instant credibility to get your kid to buy into what he is saying ) in my case my 15 year old son). He is in great shape and comes from a family of college lacrosse players. He is knowledgeable and patient but can turn up the intensity when needed. My son learned a lot in his first session, but more importantly made a connection that will allow Alex to be a positive influence on my son.

Coach Alex was instrumental in giving outr son drills and handouts to get him to the next level. Alex is an inspirational athlete and dedicated to helping lax athletes reach their goals!

Coach Alexander knows a lot about recruitment and skills needed to play lacrosse on the next level. He taught my son some new dodges and shots that he actually used in his most recent game! He even came to one of my son's games to evaluate him. How AWESOME is that! We will continue to use him throughout my son's high school athletic career. Look no further you have found the right one! :-)

Coach Alexander did an outstanding job with my son. In addition to giving him some high level instruction, Coach actually participated directly against my son in the drills. Finally, as a former Army Ranger, he imparted some life lessons and viewpoints that most teenagers are unfortunately rarely exposed to. My son looks forward to many more sessions with Coach.

Alexander Rhoads, winner of the 2007 and 2009 Steve Vlahakis Unsung Hero Award, was one of the Black Knights most versatile players over the last four seasons. A speedy defensive midfielder with a tireless motor that keyed much of Army's transition, he finished his senior season seventh for the team with 13 points on six goals and seven assists; all career-high totals. Tied for fifth with 29 ground balls, he scored two goals in Army's victory over Lafayette, while adding a goal and an assist on two occasions versus Bryant and Colgate. Rhoads also scooped up a personal-best six ground balls in the season-opening victory opposite VMI.
