More About Coach Aj

As a coach, I have 5+ years of experience training hundreds of athletes from 7 -20 years old in hitting, fielding, and catching. For two summers, I was a coach of the East Coast Titans in NJ while I was playing collegiate/professional baseball. Off the field, I have worked with players on their strength and conditioning along with the mental aspect of the sport to maximize on-field performance.

As an athlete, I competed at the professional level for 3 years after being drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 14th round of the 2015 MLB Draft finishing in AA. I was a 4-year letter-winner and captain of the Georgia Tech Baseball winning 2 ACC championships over 4 years.

Achievements & Awards:
+ Drafted in the 14th round of the 2015 MLB Draft to the Minnesota Twins
+ 2015 Third Team All-ACC
+ 2014 Cape Cod League’s Manny Robello 10th Player Award
+ 2014 Chatham A’s Most Outstanding Player of the Year
+ 2014 Cape Cod League All-Star
+ 2x ACC Champion in 2012 & 2014
+ 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year for New Jersey baseball
+ 2011 New Jersey State Player of the Year
+ 2011 First Team All-State selection in football

Training plans are custom to each individual player. Prior to the first session, I will speak with the player/parents about the goals for the training.

A 1-hour hitting session starts with a 10-minute warm-up consisting of a light jog, dynamic stretching, and light throwing to stimulate blood flow and prepare the body for activity. The physical conditioning portion follows, lasting 15 minutes, with exercises focusing on rotational power (medicine ball rotational throws) and grip strength (wrist curls).

Next is the swing mechanics section for 25 minutes, working on the fundamental components of an efficient and powerful swing. This starts with tee drills to focus on the basics, then progresses to soft toss drills for improving timing and coordination. Sequential hip and shoulder rotation drills are used to emphasize the kinetic chain. Live BP will be included during this time.

Finally, the session concludes with a 10-minute cool down involving static stretching for the major muscle groups used during the session, focusing on improving flexibility and aiding recovery. The final moments of the session are dedicated to reflection and note-taking to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Throughout the session, hydration and quality of execution are emphasized. This plan is adaptable and designed to promote long-term mastery of baseball swing mechanics.
