More About Coach Aimee
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I am a UESCA certified running coach. I have a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts with which I worked as a health fitness specialist in corporate fitness. I later obtained a bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts and worked for 8 years as a cardiac ICU nurse before choosing to stay home with my children.
I have been physically active much of my life life but came to running more recently, when it became important to fit exercise into a busy schedule. I ran my first 5K, one summer evening, with a group of friends as something fun to do and haven't looked back since. The freedom and flexibility of running has changed my life. I have run multiple half marathons and several marathons and continue to strive for personal records.
I came to coaching recently after working with my own coach. I realized that I too wanted to motivate and educate runners to achieve their goals. I joined my own coach as a member of the TEAM Coached team. My services would be best suited for a new or somewhat experienced runner who is looking to strive for longer or faster than where they are currently.
My coaching philosophy focuses around life balance. Establishing a goal and devising a program that encompasses not only running but all other aspects of life. I believe that programming should combine running, functional strength training, nutrition, and mobility, as well as the realities of a busy life. I enjoy helping others achieve their goals, great and small, and motivating them to find their inner potential.
I will be sitting for my RRCA certification this June.
I have run many half marathons and a few marathons. Often placing well within my age group. I have place in the top 3 in my age group in several local 5Ks
At this time much of a coaching plan can be delivered online with the ability to meet as little or as much as the client chooses. Each additional session would be considered a personal training session. The design of the plan is based on the clients time allotment, goals (both short and long term), and current running level. The plan is adjusted as needed based on progress and adaptation to training. Training sessions can involve any number of techniques from adjusting and maximizing form to promote better running economy, to speed drills to foster faster times. Let's not neglect the "coaching" aspect. Continued dialog via text, email, or phone on any number of topics from shoes, to nutrition, to juggling work and family and "the plan".
