More About Coach Phil
I have playing experience through college, and am currently a college coach here in the Memphis, TN area. In a session I go step by step to create the best option for a player to build on what was learned the time before. I will teach the aspects of the game that will give a player the edge on the competition. I have been doing instructing for about 6 years now, and have been coaching for about 7.
I was a scholarship athlete in college but have received more highlights through coaching. I have coached the Rawlings Prospects in South Carolina to only lose 6 games in an entire summer. Also I have coached the Ecclesia College Baseball team in its first year to a regional championship runner-up. I coach during the summer in Myrtle Beach SC in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League. I am currently serving as the assistant coach at Southwest Tenn. CC.
My plans go according to what the hitter/fielder needs to work on. I do not make big changes to any players style, just minor tweaks to get their style to be more effective. We will work through a warm-up to start, move into some fundamental talk and instruction, and finish with some strength and speed training in relation to the discipline we are working on.
