Event Description:

Mission Statement

The purpose of this clinic is to develop technically proficient, physically prepared, and tactically smart middle-distance and sprint-endurance athletes. We believe that every high school athlete has the capacity for measurable improvement when given structured instruction, evidence-based training methods, and the opportunity to practice race-level scenarios in a coaching-rich environment. This clinic is designed not just to make athletes faster for one race, but to build the foundational habits and knowledge that support long-term athletic development throughout their high school career and beyond.

Core Focus Areas

  • 400m and 800m event-specific mechanics — sprint mechanics, arm drive, postural alignment, and stride efficiency
  • Pacing strategy and race modeling — split awareness, negative splits, surging, and tactical positioning
  • Speed development — acceleration mechanics, maximum velocity development, and speed endurance training
  • Injury prevention and movement quality — dynamic warm-up, cooldown protocols, and resilience training
  • USATF Level 1–aligned training methodology — periodized, evidence-based programming aligned to the national coaching framework

Who Should Attend

This clinic is designed for high school athletes competing in — or aspiring to compete in — the 400m and/or 800m events. It is equally valuable for athletes new to these events who want to build a strong technical foundation, and for experienced competitors seeking to refine their mechanics, develop greater race intelligence, and close the gap between training performance and race-day results. Athletes looking to improve their movement efficiency, manage energy systems more effectively, and build intentional training habits will find this clinic directly applicable to their goals.

Clinic Philosophy

We believe in training athletes the right way — grounded in science, guided by experience, and centered on the individual. Our approach draws directly from USATF Level 1 principles, emphasizing periodized training that aligns with the demands of the high school competitive season. Athletes are not just physical participants in this clinic; they are active learners who will leave with an understanding of why they train the way they do, not just what to do. We hold that informed athletes are empowered athletes — and empowered athletes make better decisions on the track, in the weight room, and in life. Every drill, every rep, and every discussion in this clinic has a purpose, and that purpose is always athlete-centered development
