More About Coach Zach

I was a trainer for Chauncey Billups D1 Sports Training in Denver, CO this summer which led to my current position at Smoky Hill HS on Coach Ant Hardin's staff. I was a head coach in AAU (Colorado Chaos, Wisconsin Shooters, Colorado Flight) for several years, played college basketball and earned a Bachelors' degree in Sport Management and a coaching certificate at Cardinal Stritch University, and trained for one of the country's top trainers - Mike Lee Basketball in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have been coaching camps (Air Force, Concordia, Marquette, Roney Eford Basketball, Nick Graham ANA Basketball) for most of the last decade. I have worked out professionals and high-level D1 players, but I love working with the younger players developing strong habits and work ethic while covering real life fundamentals with a modern day update.

I played 1 year of basketball at Sand Creek HS in Colorado Springs, 3 years of varsity basketball at Ellicott HS (ranked top 10 in 3A two of the seasons), AAU basketball for Colorado Flight and 2 years of college basketball at Cardinal Stritch University. I have also played football most of my life, ran cross-country, and am an avid gym enthusiast (weights, strength, agility).

A client can expect to have a well-rounded training plan with effective and efficient drills/workouts that I've learned from Chauncey Billups, Mike Lee, Nick Graham, Ganon Baker, Dave Pilipovich (Air Force head coach), and several other coaches who I've worked under. I don't like to waste time with flashy/busy drills that don't work game-like situations. I require everything to be at game speed and intensity. You can expect pro-style ball-handling work, lots of game-speed shooting, advanced finishing, conditioning, and footwork. For the younger players or beginning players, I simplify but still hold a high standard for effort, coachability, and attitude - while focusing on the rudimentary skills needed to achieve their basketball goals. I am flexible and can adjust my workouts to what the client requests as well.

I am also well connected in the local hoops community and can link you up with coaches of any level or age, feel free to reach out just to talk shop!
