More About Coach Zach

Former video coordinator & player development lead at Penn State Men's Basketball, led several basketball clinics and camps at Penn State, and have coached several local youth basketball teams.

Played several sports in high school including basketball, football, & track but was always considered more of a player-coach. To be effective I relied on craftiness and passion for the game rather than skill / athletic ability.

A typical training session would be executed in the following order:
1) Player progress evaluation
2) Shooting fundamental warm-up
a) 1-hand form shooting drill, 1-hand form shooting with guide hand, rhythm shooting around the world
3) Skill development
a) no hands defense drill, two ball dribbling drills, jump stops, etc.
4) Player weekly routine update and goals for next week

Client Reviews

Zach is working with my 8-year-old son. My son loves working with him. Zach has made the basics fun and my son can't get enough!

In his role as Video Coordinator, Zach was considered a student athlete by the NCAA and as such was part of the team’s roster and held to all expectations for academic performance, and integrity. Beyond these expectations, Coach indicated Zach was “as hard a worker as we’ve ever had” on the team.
Zach’s understanding of the “business of college basketball” was called “uncanny and incredible”. He worked on all aspects of the team including video creation, office/admin work, travel arrangements, and on-court preparations. A true team-player, Zach worked across multiple organizations within the sports program with ease and success.
