More About Coach Yoshua
I have worked with athletes in soccer, fencing, and volleyball, focusing on athletic development, movement quality, strength, coordination, and overall performance.
I have worked as a coach/trainer at Horace Mann School in New York City and The Fulton School in Chesterfield, Missouri. I typically work with youth athletes across a wide range of ages, from elementary school through high school.
I am also a NASM-certified Personal Trainer, with experience developing age-appropriate training programs to help athletes improve their strength, conditioning, mobility, and athletic performance.
Growing up, I compete in several sports, including baseball, basketball, soccer, fencing, and volleyball. I competed at the collegiate level in both volleyball and fencing.
My most significant athletic accomplishment was competing in fencing at the professional level as a member of the Puerto Rico National Fencing Team.
A typical session with me is structured, purposeful, and tailored to the athlete’s age, experience, sport, and individual goals. I focus on building strong movement patterns first and then progressing toward strength, speed, agility, coordination, and conditioning.
I usually begin with a dynamic warm-up that includes mobility, activation, and movement preparation. From there, we work on specific athletic skills such as acceleration and deceleration, change of direction, lateral movement, balance, coordination, jumping and landing mechanics, and sport-specific drills. Strength training may include bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, dumbbells, medicine balls, and other age-appropriate equipment.
Throughout the session, I emphasize proper technique and movement quality rather than simply increasing intensity. I coach athletes through each exercise, provide feedback, and make adjustments based on their ability and performance.
