More About Coach Xergio

I’ve been coaching soccer for five years and started personal training in the fall. My experience includes coaching players from ages 2 to 16, ranging from beginners to varsity-level high school athletes. I’ve worked with organizations like Happy Feet Soccer, Dribbler, and Soccer Shots, and I currently coach at the Montessori School of San Antonio.

While I have extensive experience working with younger players, I’ve recently been focusing on training middle school and high school athletes, helping them sharpen their technical skills, tactical awareness, and overall game confidence. My coaching philosophy emphasizes building strong fundamentals, fostering a love for the game, and tailoring each session to the player’s unique goals and needs.

I have been passionate about soccer my entire life, competing at a high level throughout my playing career. I played club and varsity high school soccer, where I developed my skills and deep understanding of the game. While I didn’t compete at the collegiate or professional level, my experience as a player has shaped my coaching style, emphasizing technical excellence, tactical awareness, and a strong work ethic. I have coached the son of a former San Antonio Spurs player, which was a unique opportunity to train a young athlete with a strong sports background.

Throughout my playing years, I earned recognition for my leadership on and off the field. I use my firsthand experience to help players refine their skills, improve their game IQ, and build the confidence needed to excel at any level.

Every session with me is interactive and hands-on—I don’t just instruct from the sidelines; I train alongside my athletes. I warm up with them, pass alongside them, and even scrimmage when appropriate to push their game to the next level.
A typical first session is an assessment to gauge the player's skill level. I start with a warm-up, then evaluate their footwork, dribbling ability, movement across the field, comfort on the ball, and passing accuracy. I also incorporate dribbling under pressure and finishing drills to see how they handle real-game situations.
From there, each session is tailored to their needs, focusing on technique, game awareness, and confidence-building. I also attend my players' games—usually once a week—to observe their in-game performance and provide targeted feedback. Every session ends with a review of key takeaways and at-home exercises to keep the player progressing between trainings.
My goal is to create a challenging yet supportive environment where players develop their technical skills, build confidence and love for the game.
