More About Coach Willie

I have been coaching professional basketball in Europe at the highest level for the last six years. I coached some of the top american players that chose to play in Europe to display there god giving gifts of basketball. I also coached some of the top young European players that were being highly recruited by NBA teams. I worked with the professional team Crailsheim Merlins (Germany) before I moved up to the professional ranks. I begin with the youth teams and won championships with age groups 13-14, and would later move on to high school level, winning 3 times with age groups 15-18. I have certifications for coaching professional basketball in Europe.

Before coaching, I was a player first. High School accomplishments: 1st team all district, 1st team all Tidewater, Team MVP my junior and senior year while attending Norview High School. College accomplishment: University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 1st team all conference my junior and senior year, 1st team all tournament my senior year, southern conference champions my sophomore and senior year, trip to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament my senior year. Professional accomplishments: 2 championship on the professional level from Holland, Belgium.

A typical session with me: First of all, I'm all about hard work! I focus on fundamentals and positioning. I like to give the full arsenal of a workout. I train my players to be well polished all around type of ball players. Starting from Dribbling, passing, to shooting, rebounding, understanding spots on the floor from a defensively and offensively stand point. They will learn every thing on both sides of the ball.

Coach Willie Young is an excellent coach. I couldn't have found a better match for my son. This letter is my personal recommendation for Willie Young. During the seasons 1999-2001, Willie played for Landstede-Basketball in Zwolle. Willie was a basketball junkie, he played all the time. He was quick, good ball handling & a GREAT shooter. When the game was on the line the player you wanted with the ball was Willie. I found him to be a hard working young man with great knowledge of the game, showing a lot of energy, good spirit and a smile. Besides being a joy to work with, Willie is great person to be around with and communicates well with his team-mates. During his tenure, the team did well and played the best basketball at the seasons end. Though he was an asset to our team, Willie was also extraordinarily helpful in other areas of the organization. In addition to be a player for the first team, Willie also helped out coaching a team. On top of that he also ran clinics at local schools, inspiring and motivating young children to play basketball. I highly recommend Willie as a basketball coach. He is a team player and would make a great asset to any organization.
Willie Young is an outstanding person. He will be an asset to anything or anybody he may get involved with. I was fortunate to coach him as a player in 1999, when he played for me as a professional in Zwolle, the Netherlands.. Besides proving himself as an excellent basketball player, Willie manifested as a natural teammate: Always open and relaxed to members of the team and the club, highly coacheable, blessed with an authentic sense of humor – which I understand from eyewitness reports he hasn’t lost!- and a flat-out winner. The club in Zwolle never finished higher than in his year. I can safely say he played a vital role in that year’s success. Now that Willie has decided to go into coaching, I can only highly applaud his decision. The game of basketball needs people like him to show young men and women how to keep the tradition of roundball going. Why? Because good character makes a good coach, and Willie has tons of that.
