More About Coach Bill

Bill Cosentino completed his 4th season as the head coach of St. Joseph's College. Although the season was cut short, the Monks ended at 3-1. During the 2019 season the Monks finished with the most wins in program history with a 12-5 record, 6-2 in Conference and earned the #3 seed in the playoffs. In 2018 the team finished with a 10-9 overall record with a 5-4 mark in conference play during h sisecond season en route to earning the #4 seed in the GNAC Tournament. Making their first postseason appearance since 2014, the Monks defeated fifth-seeded Rivier University, 11-10, in a conference quarterfinal at home on April 28th before falling to top-seeded Norwich University, 17-8, on the road four days later.

The 2018 Monks established new team records in shots (803), shots on goal (464) and man-up goals (47) and posted the third winning-season – and first since 2011 – in program history. However, the 2019 Monks had a program best 210 goals and 136 assists.

Following the regular season, five Saint Joseph's players garnered All-Conference honors, as senior defender Liam Skinner (Irving Texas) and junior defender Raymond Emery (Abington, Mass.) claimed Second Team accolades and seniors Tom Lisiecki (South Boston, Mass.) and Connor Trainor (Franklin, Mass.) and junior Michael Finn (Quincy, Mass.) collected Third Team acclaim.

PRIOR SEASONS:

2017: In his first year at the helm, Cosentino led the Monks to a 6-9 record with a 3-5 mark in conference play. Although they missed the GNAC Tournament, the 2017 Monks showed marked improvement statistically across the board and finished 15th in the nation in man-down defense (.814) and 45th in caused turnovers per game (10.31).

The Monks posted their most impressive victory of the season on April 22nd, when the Royal Blue edged Johnson & Wales University, 11-10, in what many considered to be the biggest upset in 2017 GNAC regular-season play. The Monks held the Wildcats without a goal in six man-up opportunities and withstood a late comeback bid to pick up the surprise victory versus a team that defeated Saint Joseph’s by a 14-3 score the previous season.

Cosentino landed at Saint Joseph's after spending two (2014-15) seasons as the head coach at Daniel Webster College, where he guided the Eagles to a pair of New England Collegiate Conference Tournament appearances. The 2015 NECC Coach of the Year recipient led Daniel Webster to seven victories - tied for most in program history at the time - and boasted the largest men's lacrosse roster in team history during the 2016 campaign.

Prior to his stint at Daniel Webster, Cosentino served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Keene State College. In two and a half years in Keene, he helped lead the Owls to a 24-10 overall record with a Little East Conference Championship – and subsequent NCAA Tournament berth – in 2014.

Previously, Cosentino served as the head coach of the boys lacrosse program at Merrimack High School and guided the program to its first winning season (10-6) in nearly 10 years. He also worked as a varsity assistant at Concord High School for four years and helped the team make a pair of NHIAA Final Four appearances.

Cosentino was the founder of New England Elite Lacrosse, a Nashua-based club program that originated in 2010 and merged with 4 Leaf Lacrosse in January of 2016. He currently serves as the 2021/22 Head coach for 207Lacrosse.

Cosentino was a four-year starting defender for Plymouth State and went on to play two years for the Bay State Lacrosse Club, a member of the American Lacrosse League, before organizing the Warpigs Lacrosse Club in 2007.

A dynamic leader, Cosentino began working as a Leadership Coach at Velocity Performance in Nashua in 2014 and has delivered Leadership and Professional Training to students at numerous higher education institutions, including Dartmouth College, Brown University, RPI, WPI, Trinity College and Bryant University.

PERSONAL:

Coach Cosentino graduated Cum Laude from Plymouth State University in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Studies and earned his Master's in Teaching/Social Studies from Rivier University in 2011. He taught at either the elementary or middle school levels for 10 years before accepting the head coaching position at Daniel Webster.

Coach Cosentino resides in Gorham, Maine with his wife, Margot.

I was a 4 year starting defender at Plymouth State from 2001-2005. I grew up on Long Island, attended Division Avenue High School in Levittown and earned All-Conference honors my senior year. After college I started and played for the Warpigs Lacrosse club, which played in the American Lacrosse League for 4 seasons. We won 3 New England titles during that time. I also played in the O.N.E.L.L., winning a championship with Old School in 2014.

I always start each session with dynamic stretch and agilities to loosen up. I then review the goals for that particular session. Drills will depend on the focus area for each athlete. I specialize in defensive fundamentals such as on-ball approach, footwork, on-ball defense, sliding technique and schemes, stick skills, etc...

Bill Cosentino is an energetic and passionate coach! He is well versed in all aspects of the game, and is constantly pushing his players to strive to reach, and later surpass, their potential. I have personally worked with coach Cosentino in a variety of settings including the 4 Leaf Lacrosse organization as well as summer lacrosse camps. No matter the age of the player or ability level, he finds creative ways to address the basics, as well as challenge players to build upon already existing skill sets. I would highly recommend any youth, high school, or college player to utilize coach Cosentino's expertise and knowledge to better their own game.
Just wanted to let you know that my son said he learned more in 1 hr from you than a whole season!
Players out there get up and go get coached by Billy Cosentino, one of the best coaches I’ve had that will put maximum effort into making you the best player you can be, especially all you long poles out there don’t miss this great opportunity!
Great opportunity for many players to keep a stick in their hand, but at a high level of intensity. Great for defensemen to work on their different skills and get better as a player overall and with Cosentino you know you will get better! I personally gained speed and agility and learned new checks that work in game. This work is really what makes the difference in game!
