More About Coach Whitney

I have been coaching athletes for over 15 years in running, swimming, and endurance sport focusing heavily on mental skills training. I have coached adult athletes 1:1 in endurance sport through my business Transcend Health & Wellness as well as age group athletes at the Lawrence Swim Club. I have also coached groups of athletes on mental skills training through clubs and group coaching sessions through my business. I have experience with elementary- high school age children in the behavioral health field where I worked as a Life Skills Specialist at Cummins Behavioral Health. I coach all clients on mindset and mental skills training to overcome negative self talk, lack of self belief, performance anxiety, learn how to listen to their body in training, visualization, goal setting, mental fitness and toughness, overcoming challenge, and personal power. In my coaching career I have worked with young adults and adults of all ages and abilities to coach them to train and perform their best in their endurance sport.

I am a lifetime endurance sport athlete swimming competitively for over 16 years. I swam at Division II University of Indianapolis and am a Hall of Fame Athlete. I have been running for over 12 years personally and have completed 5k-Ultra Marathon distances in my adult running career including the TCS New York City Marathon, a World Major Marathon. I am certified as a Health & Life Coach through Health Coach Institute, a former professional Life Skills Specialist in behavioral health, a certified RRCA Running Coach, and a KettleCamp Kettlebell Coach.

10 minutes- Coach and client discuss what's going well in their training and life
40-45 minutes- coaching on athlete's challenges using mental skills training/mindset coaching strategies and experiential exercises, check up on last session's focus
10 minutes- session closes out with athlete creating a focus/goal they'd like to work on until the coach and athlete meet again

Coach Whitney is a great communicator, professional, and knowledgeable. I attended a workshop discussing the effects of stress on athletes' bodies - a serious problem affecting my overall training at the time. We did an exercise in recognizing stress, how it affected us in our training/performance and demonstrated ways to resolve the stress in our life.
