More About Coach Wazeem
I have coached athletes from beginner to intermediate levels. I coached for Gladiator Gym from 2006-2008. While at Gladiator Gym, I was consider a lead fighter so I had the opportunity of coaching other fighters and teaching them the fundamentals of boxing. I gained experience coaching from competition fighters to gym members who were just looking to stay fit. Coaching sessions consisted of one-on-one sessions and class sessions ranging from age 12 to 30. Classes would consist of 5-10 boxers and I would lead them through exercises and drills. Drills would consist of jab, hook, and uppercut combos. I also incorporated jump rope techniques and speed development. In addition, I've used diverse equipment during my training sessions including punching bags, speed bags, punch/strike shields, and more. My specialty is working with young fighters, focusing on striking and footwork. I love to teach young kids the skills needed to be a dedicated and hardworking boxer.
Although I currently do not have any industry certifications, I continued to coach private clients from 2012-2014 I have been training private clients.
Assistant Coach- 2 years at Gladiator Gym
40 Hours of 1-on-1 Training Sessions
I started boxing when I was 15 years old. After training for a year, I was recruited onto team Gatto at Gladiator gym. Team Gatto was an amateur boxing team which traveled around the bay area for tournaments and competitions. Team Gatto's head coach was Ramona Gatto and she is a 9 time world champion. I spent over 3 years training with Ramona on a 1 on 1 basis. Ramona taught me how to improve my boxing IQ with the movement of my feet and the control of my punches. Ramona also taught me how to be aggressive yet very smart when sparring with an opponent. The time I spent with Ramona was priceless and she is my inspiration for becoming a coach. As younger boxers joined the team, I started to train other fighters and was able to pass down the techniques that Ramona instilled in me. I trained fighters for 2 years before I left to college. Many of the fighters I trained still box at Gladiator gym.
1st place at the Marin County Boxing tournament in 2007.
1st place at Gladiators Gym in 2007 and 2008.
2006 Best Young Boxer Team Gatto.
I like to work with clients on technique and form. It is important for me to have a proper warm up to insure safe and maximum performance. I would start a session with full body stretches and 2-3 rounds of jump roping to get the body loose. The first drill will be 3-4 rounds of shadow boxing to help improve footwork and speed. The next drill will be 4-6 rounds of mitt work to work on helping with technique and accuracy. The next drill would be 4-6 rounds with a boxing shield to improve strength and conditioning. I believe it is very important to incorporate basic exercises such as squats, push ups, and sit ups between drills to get a full body workout. I like to conclude the workout with another 2 rounds of jump roping and sprints.

Tom (CoachUp client)
Just had my first training session ever and Wazeem was great. He helped with hand wraps, and was extremely patient. We learned the jab, cross, hook and footwork along with cardio. This experience seemed intimidating at first but I couldn’t think of a better coach than Wazeem. Thank you!
James (CoachUp client)
Great coach! Very adaptive to your skillset and desired lesson plan!

Excellent first session for my 9.5yr old with Coach Wazeem. Right off the bat, Coach Wazeem engaged my son's interest, identified the areas that needed work, and then provided a comprehensive boxing lesson and workout. It could not have gone better, and we'll be working with Coach Wazeem on a regular basis.

You know when someone's a good coach if they make you love what they teach! I enjoy yoga and walking my dog -- that should tell you my interest in boxing.
i wasn't really interested in boxing until I had my first lesson with Wazeem! Not only did he teach me how to defend myself, but he taught me patience and to have better eye coordination. We focused a lot on perfecting the positions and worked on key moves. By the end of it, I felt like manny pacquiao! Can't wait to box again!
