More About Coach Vito

I have coached many high school and college athletes including Swimmers from NYU and collegiate football players. I coached these athletes in their off season to ensure peak physical performance when their season started. I also train bodybuilders, powerlifters, and fitness athletes regularly. Many of my clients are high school athletes trying to get in shape or build some muscle mass.

I have had many athletic accomplishments over my career. In high school I was a baseball player, a football player, and as a sprinter running track I won a bronze award at the Hispanic Games in NYC. I also broke three powerlifting records at 198lbs when I was 17: a 485lb Squat, a 405lb Bench Press, a 675lb Deadlift. At 18 I started competing in Bodybuilding and came in 2nd place in the light heavyweight division of the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation's 'Hercules' competition. After 18 years of age I kept competing and at this point of my life I am training for the WNBF World Championships.

In a typical session with me a client can expect a rigorious workout developed around their specific goals. I use different techniques with different clients because no one is exactly the same. I also tailor custom diets to each of my client's routines to ensure optimal results. Whether a client is training for a sport, bodybuilding, or powerlifting, my workouts tend to entail very high volume. I believe that volume is the most influential factor of any training program.

Client Reviews

Just like with making a statue, it takes work to whittle a block of marble down to a workable size but it takes imagination, artistry, consistency and dedication to transform it from a normal, lifeless piece of rock to something that shines and conveys a message. I was fortunate enough to meet someone whose artistry with the human body knows no bounds, the passion he displays for what he does is something of an amazement. He pushed me past a lot of the limits I placed on myself and in so doing, took me to greater heights that I could have ever imagined of doing. The 3 months I have currently spent training with him has been the most fruitful and most transformative part of my 5 year journey and it is no exaggeration for me to say that what I have achieved right now is in great part to him.
Few months ago I came close to being cut from my swimming team for not meeting their monthly cut times, I swore to myself I will do anything to stay and just make cut times so I don't lose my scholarship from New York University. 'I can't believe it.. I did it' were my words last month when I finished 1st in CUNY swimming and diving championship and 2nd overall in NEIII Regional Swimming Championship under Vito Frank Leonardo guidance. Vito is a rare personal trainer who puts "personal" first. I found Vito through the neighborhood gym and later found his Instagram page that showed progress of many people I saw around our gym. I thought about the horrible loss I would have if I don't react quick, so I emailed Vito. Vito worked with my mind first, telling me that my weight was not something to concentrate on, I need to actually gain weight in order to be able to lift weights I would have never thought I would be able to lift as a swimmer. Not only did he follow up with great advise on healthy lifestyle, but he educated on every movement, challenges my body every second of our training, pushes me to break sweat and get to that point when you start thinking "It’s so hard, I can’t" and says "Yes, you can!’" And when it’s over you think 'Wow.. Did I didn't know I can push myself this much' Every training with him became a little battle with myself for a bigger, stronger me, mentally preparing myself for swimming meets telling myself "you've worked too hard to quit now". Yeah, I did it: in two short months I went from 5 sets and 3 reps of 135 pounds deadlift, to 5 sets and 5 reps of 275 pounds of deadlifts. As an athlete it is very hard to find a trainer that will focus on your goals and not only make you sore on purpose in order for you to think their workouts feel like progress. VFLbodybuilding helped me achieve personal goals and break personal records by focusing on my situation and really tackling my weakness. Vito turned my weakness into strength and my strength into second nature, truly astonishing.
