More About Coach Ugochukwu
I am head boys soccer coach at Millbrook school. I have been a trainer at clubs in Sharon, CT and various clubs in Poughkeepsie. Additionally, I run many private sessions after my fall season is over and I work with all age groups, particularly 9-17. Before coming to the US, I played pro soccer in the national league in England.
I played at Franklin and Marshall college where I was an all-American as a sophomore. I was also the rookie of the year in my conference and was on the all-region team, all-conference every year that I played. We made it to the national elite eight once and the round of 16 the rest of my time there. I also played for Boston united in Lincolnshire, England prior to moving to the states.
Firstly, I like to identify the level of the athlete and work from there. I believe developing basic skills and form breeds more pronounced growth.
I start with little touches between a set of cones, working on movement and touches on the ball to ascertain form and comfort. Then we progress to passing and control a ball from short to long distances. Then we work on awareness with and without the ball and then 1v1s explaining how to attack and defend. I typically end the session with working on shooting form and then we shoot
