More About Coach Tray

I have 10 years of experience coaching and training athletes of all ages, from the intermediate level to professionals. I served as a trainer for the Baylor Men's basketball team from 2007 until I graduated in 2012, in which I was fortunate to train over 20 professional athletes from Big 12 All-time leading scorerLacedarius Dunn, High School All-time leading scorer Tweety Carter, Sacramento Kings forward Quincy Acy and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Perry Jones just to name a few. I currently assist in running Scott Drew basketball camp every summer and I have been doing this also since 2007. In addition, I work with my own youth program in which I coach AAU basketball from grades 5-12, and I also have been working with this program since 2007.

I played basketball my entire life up until college in which I begin coaching and training. I am extremely knowledgeable about the game and have been able to work with players at each level.

I like to start out with shooting:
-One-hand shooting, as it is the basis of developing a proper jump shot.
-Mid range elbow jumpers, focusing on making sure we have the correct form and are shooting a good consistent jump shot.
-Shooting off the dribble
-Free throws

Once done with shooting, we will move on to defensive and footwork drills:
- This will allow the athlete to become more fluid on defense, as well as offense.

After we complete defense and footwork, we will move on to ball handling and conditioning:
-The goal is to make ball handling become natural to the athlete in which he/she is comfortable handling the ball under pressure.
We will do:
-Stationary ball handling drills
-Moving with the ball using cones

We will finish with layups and attacking the basket.
-Our goal in our layup drills will be to learn how to attack the basket full speed but under control and finishing with contact.

We will end the day with free throws.

Client Reviews

Great training for my son.

Although we haven’t met him yet, his assistants/coaches have been wonderful to work with. Communication is good, workouts are tough but very resourceful. Coaches are really good and know how to find the weak areas in a player. We will continue with more lessons.

My daughter had her first session and I saw a 360 turn around right away. We will be using him till she graduates in 6 six years

I hired Tray to coach my two middle school aged sons. He was just what I was hoping for: skilled, hard-driving, and positive. The boys' skills and knowledge definitely improved under his guidance, and they look forward to future sessions with Coach Tray.

Coach Tray is awesome! He is working great with my daughter. I only had like 2 sessions but a difference is definitely in the making. Thanks Coach she hit 10 shots in a row in 2 shooting position. She is improving in so many ways I can't even name them all.

Coach Travar is an outstanding coach. His focus on fundamentals and breaking down step-by-step what he wants my son to do has allowed him to quickly develop his skills. Coach Travar does an excellent job of challenging players to hone their skills while at the same time encouraging them as they are learning. He is exactly the type of coach I want my son to learn from.

Coach Travar is awesome!! Has a great program and really gives the boys great one on one attention & feedback. Highly recommend him!!

Coach Tray was great with our grandson. When he came home I ask how did his first day with coach. He said good and he wants to keep going so that right there means alot. Thanks Coach

Coach Tray is incredible!!! Our family can not say enough accolades about Coach Tray. His teaching techniques and patient demeanor has not only helped my daughter's confidence and understanding to grow about the game, but she also showed improvement even after the 1st lesson! We highly recommend Coach Tray.

I knew within 5 minutes of my daughters lesson starting that we had struck gold with coach Tray. He is so encouraging and my daughter learned more in 1 hour than ever before.

Very attentive, knowledgeable and passionate!! Looking forward to more sessions for our son!

Great one on one session coach tray did everything that I wanted to see. My daughter hopes to work more with him

Coach Tray went above and beyond what was expected, very well run session/training, no downtime and all hustle. No wasted time. If something needed to be corrected he would stop the drill and demonstrate what needed to be done. Looking forward to the next session.

Great coach very professional. I highly recommend coach Tray.

My daughter had her first workout with Coach Tray. I was pleased to see him identify a flaw in her shooting mechanics that I had also identified. He immediately started to correct the issue. Great job!

Coach Tray has been great. Our son played in a tournament after just a couple of lessons with Tray and we could already tell a difference in his confidence on the court. We look forward to many more lessons in the future.

Tray was well prepared for the lesson. My son is 11 and there was no wasted time. Drills were perfect for his skill level. Great mix of toughness and encouragement. Overall great experience and we will definitely continue lessons with Tray

Coach Tray is patient and shows his passion for coaching through his love of the game. My son is inspired by coach Tray and is taking his lessons seriously.

Very pleased with the training. My Son who is a Jr in high school loves the push he's getting from Coach Tray.

Coach Tray did such a great job working with my daughter and her teammate. He worked some great drills with them that I had not seen them do before. Both girls really liked him and loved the instruction he gave. I was super impressed with Coach Tray.
