More About Coach Ting Yee

During my high school days, I started a non profit tennis club aimed at introducing the sport to young people below the age of 10. However it was open to all and in fact a lot of the older crowd showed up. Here, I introduced students to the basic techniques, rules, and behavioral expectations and eventually got them started up on some matchplay. In college, I was also a coach at the New York University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club, where I introduced college aged students to the basics of the 'Gentle Art'.

First, I will request that the client arrive ten minutes early to warm up, so that session time isn't wasted on warming up. Warm up is extremely important as it gets the blood flowing through the body and lowers the risk of injury. During the first meeting, I will assess the level of play of the client. If the client is relatively new to the sport, I will introduce him/her to the basic proper techniques of hitting groundstrokes and eventually move on to the more complex movements. If the client is more experienced, then the best way to improve would be to engage him/her in more matchplay situations and introduce a more tactical and mental side to the game. The session may end with tennis based fitness drills and some cool down exercises.
