More About Coach Thomas
USSF D License
2019-2020: Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Northland College (NCAA D3)
2018-2019: Head U15 Boys Soccer Coach at DCYFC - team competed in EDP
2017-2019: Assistant Boys Varsity Soccer Coach at Washington International School
2016-2017: Head Freshman Soccer Coach at Georgetown Preparatory High School
2012-2016: Coached multiple recreational teams and worked at summer soccer camps while attending college
Over the course of my career, I have had multiple achievements. Prior to high school, I played for DC Stoddert Blue Lightning under Coach Evans Malyi. I was a captain on this team from eighth grade until my senior year of high school. For high school, I played at Gonzaga College High School where I made the honorable mention team for the WCAC. During my sophomore year of high school, I played for the Maryland State ODP 93' team, where I started at outside back as well as center back. I then went on to play D2 college soccer at Wheeling Jesuit University where I started my freshman, sophomore, and junior years until I was forced to redshirt my senior year due to an injury.
A typical session revolves around getting a proper warm up with plenty of stretching (this can be done before we start after the first session). I believe a player should be well rounded. As a result, we will discuss the tactics from each position's perspective. Fitness will play a large role. If a player is fit, then they can achieve all of their goals. Technically, I like to focus on working on a good touch/first touch, carrying the ball with speed, footwork, and improving the speed of decision making.

Highly professional session with my 11 year old son. Used a great variety of drills to understand the nuances of skills level against various competencies. Very engaging and connected well with the trainee. Highly recommend.

Our 9 year old had his first session with Coach Thomas and pleaded to have more. We just did his 2nd session and our son is more motivated than we have ever seen him before.

Tom (CoachUp client)
Thomas did a great job with our 12 year-old son. He was begging for another lesson before we could even get off the field! And this in spite of the fact that his tongue was practically dragging the ground, they worked so hard. Highly recommend!
Andrew (CoachUp client)

Coach Thomas has been amazing for the kids as they really connect with him which I think is the most important thing for young kids 8 and 10 years old. They are always so excited and can't wait for him to arrive.
He is also very open to whatever skills they want to work on. All in all he has been an excellent coach for our kids and it has made them more enthusiastic about soccer and we can actually see the progress come out in their competitive games.
Kleber (CoachUp client)
He was very good!! Very patient with my son; he also has a variety of drills, which made the session fun and engaging for my son

Excellent in every respect. Tom worked with my teenage son for a week and did an fantastic job teaching the basics, and instilling confidence. Tom knows how to prepare kids for their next step in youth or high school level soccer having done it all himself. My son greatly enjoyed training with Tom. Communicates well with people, organized and responsive. Strongly endorse.
Devona (CoachUp client)
We highly recommend Coach Thomas! He promptly communicates with parents, is flexible concerning scheduling, and most importantly, is fantastic with our son. Coach Thomas is extremely knowledgeable about the sport and is able to impart that knowledge in a manner that is easily understood by very young players. Thus, far our sessions have been fun/engaging. We look forward to seeing our son improve in the sport under the guidance of Coach Thomas.
Laura (CoachUp client)
Coach Thomas is an excellent communicator with a sense of humor who is helping my teenage daughter improve her soccer skills and fitness.
