More About Coach Terrence
Hi team. Presently I am coaching at CSD Consumes in Elk Grove. I am coaching 7-8 year olds. I am also coaching 9 -11 year olds. However I work with all ages. I believe in teaching fundamentals.
Nowadays every kid wants to be a Steph Curry. But a lot of them don't understand what it takes to reach that type of greatness. I hope to instill into my players the principles that they need -- to not just to become a good basketball player but to develop character ---to become a good person. I teach them practicals in basketball that will help them all through life.
The principles that I will teach them will be consistency, hard work, dedication and to never cheat yourself -- but do the hard work. Also we want to make sure that they develop the love for the game. And that love comes by participating in drills that are fun and encourage them to keep at it.
A lot of the fundamentals of basketball are dying. Kids are caught up in video games and the metavers. But the skills that I help them to develop will make sure that they are a step above their opponents. My model is have a good attitude and have fun!
I am originally from South Bend Indiana. Where I attended James Whitcomb Riley High school in South Bend Indiana. Yes I am a Hoosier.
I played point guard for my high school. I was all conference I was all state. I attended California State University, Chico. I played point guard for Chico state.
I come from a long line of family basketball players. I absolutely love the game.
First of course I have to assess what the trainee (kid) knows. We have to find out if the trainee knows the rules and the symbols: What is a Basket Backboard Front Court Backcourt Center Circle Jump Circle 3 Point Arc Lane Paint key Free Throw lane Low Blocks Restricted Area Baseline End line Sideline...etc
After they know all the symbols of the court. We make sure they know the rules. Traveling Double etc.. Next we work on drills that teach proper dribbling shooting defense rebounding and passing.
