More About Coach Tarnell

I have 6 years of college coaching experience in the fields of actually being a college assistant also a strength and conditioning coach as well as speed and agility.

I have run speed and agility for entire aau programs before. Epic Youth movement ages 8-17u. I also run the strength and conditioning program as well as the speed and agility program for Elgin community College's men's basketball program (4 years) At Elgin Community College we finished 2nd in the nation as the National Runner up this past season 2016-2017 with a 31-6 record

Once I got to junior college I wanted to get into coaching so I made the switch.... I didn't see myself as a professional athlete and a few injuries wouldn't allow those thoughts to grow.

A typical session with me is beyond demanding. My job is simply to make an athlete regardless of age be the best version of themselves. A confident athlete can work wonders in any arena.

Coach Tarnell is great. He is able to see the small mistakes my son is making with his skills and correct them so we see results right away. He uses humor and a very calm delivery to get his message across that makes my son very comfortable

After a difficult situation at the high school, I was seeking some basketball training for my son. Coach Tarnell was the answer to our prayers. My son is back excited about basketball and willing to but the work in again. Coach Tarnell made him feel good about himself again. His drills showed my son that he needed to work but also that he is a good player.

I booked a session for my 12 year old son to help him get ready for his school tryouts. He really enjoyed it and learned a lot. He said Coach Tarnell knows a lot of drills, is very experienced, and was positive and fun. My husband, who's an avid basketball player, watched the coaching session and was also impressed. We're signing up for more sessions with Coach Tarnell!

It took us a few tries to lock in a start time and location, but once we did Tarnell worked the boys exactly how we asked. Good communicator. Knows how to connect with the kids (13 year old). Stayed a little extra time to make sure they understood the expectations and made some progress on the first session.

Coach Tarnell is teaching skills that I are challenging my daughter and making her think. He has a way to keep her engaged which I know is challenge for any 9 year old going through training. Look forward to continuing coaching with him.
