More About Coach Tanner

I have coached elementary, middle and high school level lacrosse. I began my coaching career in high school coaching elementary and middle school athletes on a individual and group basis during the summer. Upon graduation from college I was the Head Coach of a 7th and 8th grade Middle School team made up of about 60 boys. The team was seeded as a top 5 team in Ohio.

Played Division I college Lacrosse at Big East St. John's University (Queens, NY). Played three seasons with the Dublin Jerome HS as a long pole midfielder. I was the team captain my senior year. I tallied 233 ground balls over my three-year career, with a career-high of 110 ground balls my senior year. I earned first team all-region and all-state honors in 2007 and 2008. I was named the 2008 Ohio Specialist of the Year and earned State Farm Scholar-Athlete Honors (2008). I was a member of the Celtics' 2005 Division IB state championship teams and the runner-up team in 2006. I also played two seasons of football for the Celtics. I was named to the 2007 all-conference and all-district second teams. I earned all-conference scholar-athlete honors and was named a McDonald's Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Additionally, I was also a member of Dublin Jerome's National Honor Society and Principal Advisory Committee. I graduated high school summa cum laude and played lacrosse for the Midwest Lacrosse Club during the summer of 2007.

Lacrosse is a sport of skill. While size and speed are factors I believe my time as the shortest defensive player in Division I lacrosse is a testament to how far the fundamentals can take an athlete. I will begin by walking the athlete through a series of stick work and foot work drills. I believe in the "Tell-Show-Do" then tell again technique! Once the fundamentals are improved I will begin to progress the sessions to be more advanced and tailored to the position of the player.

Client Reviews

Tanner was very personable and knowledgeable. Wish we could have had more sessions.

My grandson could not quit talking about how much he learned and how much fun he had. He is really confident that Coach Tanner will make him a better player and help him reach his goals.

Cade really enjoyed himself and felt really comfortable with Tanner! I think Tanner will be able to really him him hone his skills of lacrosse and make him feel good about being on his DYA team!

Great job. Everything was very easy for my son to understand and he walked away with a lot of new techniques and information!

While I could tell that Tanner has a lot of experience and knowledge that would be helpful for advanced players, what was really impressive to me was his ability to teach and relate to my six year old who was just starting. He was able to keep my little guys attention and interest as he taught him the fundamentals of the game. I have to say, Tanner could not have been better for my young son.
