More About Coach Talia

I have experience coaching collegiate softball and working as a private instructor across a wide range of ages. I coached at Gordon College last year and currently coach at Simmons University, where we are preparing for conference playoffs. In addition to my collegiate coaching experience, I have provided private lessons for the past five years, working with athletes from elementary school through high school. I do not currently hold formal industry certifications, but I have developed my coaching experience through hands-on work at the collegiate level and consistent one-on-one athlete development.

I competed in softball at Johnson & Wales University, where we won a GNAC championship and advanced to the NCAA regional tournament. During my collegiate career, I was named to the GNAC All-Conference Third Team and earned NFCA All-Scholastic honors each year I played.
Prior to college, I played for the Mass Rapids Gold college showcase team, competing in top showcase tournaments across the country against elite-level competition and in recruiting-focused environments.
At the high school level, I attended St. Mary’s Junior Senior High School, where I was a Boston Herald All-Scholastic player.

A typical session with me is structured, focused, and tailored to the athlete’s age, skill level, and goals. I start each lesson with a brief check in and movement warm up to prepare the athlete physically and to identify the main focus for that session. From there I work on a specific skill set such as hitting mechanics, fielding fundamentals, throwing, or position specific development depending on what the athlete needs most.
In hitting sessions I emphasize mechanics, timing, and approach using tee work, soft toss, and live reps to build consistency and improve swing patterns. For fielding I focus on clean footwork, glove positioning, and efficient transfers while progressing from controlled reps into game speed actions. In throwing sessions I work on arm care, mechanics, and accuracy while reinforcing proper sequencing and repeatable movement patterns.
As the session continues I increase intensity and add more game realistic situations through competitive drills and live reads so the athlete can apply skills under pressure. I finish each session with a cooldown and a feedback conversation that highlights progress and gives clear takeaways or homework so the athlete knows what to work on moving forward.
