More About Coach Steve

Hi! My name is Steve Marcus and since I was 16 years old, I have wanted to coach basketball. After playing at Wilbraham and Monson Academy, I enrolled at St. Bonaventure University where I was a student manager for four seasons. Upon graduating from St. Bonaventure, I spent two years with the Boston Celtics working in their basketball operations department. From there, I went to North Carolina State and worked with the men's basketball team for the 2016-2017 season. After my time at NC State, I went north of the border to Canada and worked in the professional ranks with the St. John's Edge of the NBL Canada. I have been in Canada the last three seasons, my first year as the Associate Head Coach and the last two seasons as the Head Coach.

I played at a very high level in prep school, at Wilbraham and Monson Academy. I had the options to play at the collegiate level but knew I wanted to coach. I felt it was best for me and my career to go to a Division 1 school and be a student manager where I could learn from the coaching staff hands on.

Depending on the level of the athlete, sessions will defer. If the athlete is a beginner, we will work on all the fundamentals, such as dribbling, passing and the proper shooting form. The more advanced the athlete is, the more advanced the lessons get. My sessions usually run between 30 and 45 minutes. High intensity, always moving and always trying to learn.

Client Reviews

(no details provided)

Having worked with Steve and seen his growth over the last 6 years, I know he will thrive in this role with CoachUp. He is a great basketball mind, he takes his job serious but at the same time, never lets that seriousness get in the way of the fun he has on the court.
Steve was fantastic to work with, his knowledge of the game, patience with our athletes and fun personality led to an exciting session.
