More About Coach Solomon
Just completed seventh year at the helm of Saint France School. In the past three years, the Saints have won three consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) varsity conference titles and a State Championship in their third year as a varsity program. I have won 20 or more games each year and was undefended during its State Championship year (2013). My overall record at Saint Francis School 36 – 3 in conference play. I have been named BIIF – 2X’s, OIA -2X’s and ILH 2X’s Coach of the Year, and have won the conference/division championship in each one of those conference’s. In the 40 pus years of coaching I have coached multiple All State players and a State Player of the Year. The 2012-2013. My squads finished the year ranked #7 in the Star-Honolulu Advertiser coaches’ poll and ranked Number one in the DII Division State wide. Saint Francis Secondary School has been an all-Girls School for 80 pus years; in its first 3 years of boys’ varsity basketball it has been very competitive, so competitive that It was nicknamed D-I Destroyers and the only local team to beat the D-I State Champions, along with 6 other D-I State Qualifying teams.

I consider myself a “tough love” coach. While my players are in the program, typically it’s tough for them to understand the commitment and discipline that has been established for them to be a successful part of the team. It’s usually after the season or several years after their high school career where they look back on the experience and start to understand why certain things were done certain ways. I use basketball as a tool to teach my players the difference between right and wrong. If I have an athlete who leaves my program without learning the difference between making a good or bad decision, I have failed that athlete.

i am very happy with coach solomon. i am an adult that starting learning 2 years ago and started playing team ball this year. i'm 2 sessions in and learning a lot of basics and fundamentals that i would never be able to learn on my own or from asking my friends. playing on your balls of your feet, pivot movements, ball security and placement, footwork, key locations on receiving passes... it makes you realize basketball requires so much more knowledge beyond shooting and catching and i'm glad i have an experienced coach to help me with that.

I learned a lot of new things that will help my game, but I wish there was more visual learning.
