More About Coach Silas

My approach to coaching comes from years of playing competitive soccer, including my experience as an NCAA Division I athlete at UNC Asheville. Throughout my playing career, I learned from experienced coaches, competed in demanding training environments, and developed a strong understanding of the technical, tactical, and mental aspects of the game.

I am now bringing that experience into individual and small-group training, with a focus on helping young athletes develop strong fundamentals, improve their confidence, and reach their potential. I believe every player develops differently, so my approach emphasizes personalized instruction, encouragement, and creating an environment where athletes feel comfortable challenging themselves.

I competed at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the men's soccer program at the University of North Carolina Asheville. Soccer has been a major part of my life from a young age, and competing at the collegiate level was the result of years of dedication, discipline, and hard work.

My experience playing Division I soccer allowed me to train and compete alongside talented athletes while learning from experienced collegiate coaches. Through this experience, I developed a deeper understanding of technical development, tactical awareness, physical preparation, and the mentality required to compete at a high level.

I now want to use the knowledge and experience I've gained throughout my playing career to help younger athletes improve and pursue their own goals in soccer.

Every training session is designed around the individual athlete's age, skill level, position, and personal goals. My focus is on creating a challenging but positive environment where players can improve their technical abilities while building confidence and enjoying the game.

Sessions typically begin with a dynamic warm-up incorporating ball mastery, coordination, and movement exercises. From there, we progress into technical drills focusing on first touch, passing and receiving, dribbling, ball control, and footwork.

Depending on the athlete's needs, sessions may also include finishing, 1v1 attacking and defending, agility, positional movement, and decision-making under pressure. I believe it's important to explain not only how to execute a skill, but also when and why to use it during a game.

I finish sessions with game-realistic challenges that allow players to apply what they've practiced. My goal is for every athlete to leave feeling more confident, motivated, and excited to continue improving.
