More About Coach Shea

For the last 6 years I’ve been running freelance basketball instruction services and coaching highschool basketball in Southern California.

From 2012-2017 I was an assistant coach and head of player development at La Mirada Highschool in La Mirada, California. We won a state championship in 2015, the first in school history.

At La Mirada I worked closely with players who went on to play at:

Princeton
Dartmouth
Irvine Valley College
Cerritos College

I’ve also spent 6 years freelance training experience with players from beginner to NBA veteran including

Aaron Gordon
Klay Thompson
Solomon Hill
Stanley Johnson
Willie Reed
Among others

-Played 4 years at D2 Cal State Eastbay before moving to Southern California in 2011 to train full time.
-Honorable mention all conference player.
-3rd in 3pt shooting %

We start with a conversation to asses basketball history, current teams, and long term basketball goals.

Then we discuss a 3 part system
1. Who are you now as a player?
2. Who do you want to be as a player?
3. How can we get there?

After diagnosis we begin working with perspective drills to enhance skills. Drills and techniques include:
-Shooting (form, rhythm, and game shots)
-Ball skills (control, manipulation, moves/counters)
-Footowork (pivot, shooting, ball-handling)
-Passing (technique and situation)
-Defense (footwork, handwork, tactics, concepts and theories)
-Situations (transition, isolation, pick and roll, cutting, using screens, posting up)

Client Reviews

He made my son a better player. Thanks Coach

Since we started working with coach Shea we’ve noticed a tremendous change in our sons techniques and we’ve been coming to him ever since

Shea has worked with me since middle school and is one of my key mentors. Our workouts and our talks have helped me in basketball and in seeing the bigger picture. I am thankful to call Shea a friend, a coach and a mentor.
