More About Coach Sharon

1 season for the Fond du Lac Volleyball Club -15s (Impact certified). 6 years for Metro Academy High School and KC Metro Volleyball Club (ages 12-18). Impact certified, UMKC coaches clinic 2001, and Gold Medal Squared coaches clinic in 2002 at KState. I took a break from coaching in 2007 (2 kids). Started coaching again in 2011: city leagues, Invasion VBC, and Boost 15-1. My oldest daughter went on to play at Cowley Community College and St. Mary's University. I currently work full time at Garmin International, but I volunteer with Girls on the Run, Let Me Run, BSA Troop 46, Center School District, Mayor’s Night Nets 2022-23, and open gyms. I started doing private lessons with CoachUp in 2021.

I played 4 years as a middle blocker for Marian University, Fond du Lac, WI. I played Iowa and HOA region tournaments for 10+ years after that. I have been competing in local road and trail races since 2005. The full marathon did not work out, but I can manage the half marathon distance. I strongly encourage cross training and proper nutrition for athletes.

I will plan my sessions based on the skills and needs of the individual. I enjoy helping kids break down the individual skills and strategies it takes to make a high school or club team. I am vaccinated. I do not have my own gym, but I have some options in the South Kansas City area. I can also provide an outdoor net system if the weather cooperates. I can bring one of my kids (ages 14 and 15) to help with drills.

We really enjoyed our first session with Sharon. She was great with my daughter, very knowledgeable and taught both of us some drills we can work on at home or in any space.
