More About Coach Shad

Former college athlete at University of The Virgin Islands. I was always striving to improve my basketball skills.
I coach freshmen boy’s basketball and assisted with varsity team at Colony High School.
Prior to coaching at High School, I helped train and mentor kids at local High Schools. I have played basketball since I was very young. I learned a lot of drills and workouts from my experience playing basketball in high school and college. Also by working out and playing with professional players.
I work with all ages. I understand that the higher the skill level. The more you need to pay attention to detail.

I have played basketball since the age of 5 years old. I played at the Varsity level 3 out of 4 years receiving 2nd team and All-League honors. Then, I went on to play 2 years at Mt. San Antonio College where we won the state championship. Receiving recognition from the City of Los Angles and Walnut. Also earning Most Improved award. After, I played my last years of college basketball at D2/NAIA University of The Virgin Islands.

I am really big on building a foundation on fundamentals then working our way up to advance skills. You can expect to be pushed my players to their limits, demanding 100% focus throughout the workout, and game like intensity each drill.
The first meeting will consist of getting to know each other. Seeing the players strength and weakness.
Get an understanding of what the players short and long term goals are.
Set a training session to help reach the players goals.

Basic Workout Session
Warm up Stretching
Basic ball handling and form shooting
Then ball handling drills
•two basketball drills
•combo drills
After footwork/balance drills
•foot ladder drills
•cones drills
Shooting/ Finishing drills
•catch and shoot
•1 or 2 dribble shoot/finishing
(Free Throws in between each set)
Lastly bring all the drill together in a game like situation drill and finish wit’s free throws.

When all done we will recap on the drills we went over and what we need to improve next meeting.
After if you have any questions or need advice on anything. I’ll be more than welcome to answer.
I want my players to improve each workout not only with our time together but see result in action as well. Making steps closer to reaching their full potential.
