More About Coach Sevag

I started coaching when I was still in high school for a multi-sport program (Playmaker All Stars) that offered children an athletic and educational experience. I organized and ran programs with children ages 2 – 2nd grade in a structured, safe, and positive setting. I also ran and supervised birthday parties that included baseball, basketball, floor hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and more. From there, I started to work soccer camps and coach teams and I’ve been on the field ever since. For the past 11 years, I've coached for a club (NVSC) in NJ. I trained both boys and girls ages 8 - 19. In addition to training the club teams, I also conducted private lessons for kids on the club and rec teams as well as other kids in the area. I have worked with children from 2 years of age up to adults in group and private sessions. Depending on their age and skill level, I design my lessons accordingly. I have a Bachelor's degree from Kean Univerisity in Global Wellness & Fitness. I hold a D license in coaching.

Soccer has always been my greatest passion. I played striker and wing for TuS Ennepetal in Germany 2019, CSV Bochum Linden 2018, Kean University Men’s Soccer 2014 – 2016, and for Red Bulls U23 2016. I was invited to Columbus Crew Combine and ranked top 10 player 2016. I was nominated and won “Player of the Season 2014” for outstanding display on the field. And lastly, I was ranked “2nd Best Division III Striker” nationally 2015.

Depending on the player, skill level, and age, we will focus on passing, receiving, dribbling, foot coordination, speed, tackling, heading, attacking, defending, and more.

A typical session might look like this:
• Dynamic warm up involving juggling and jogging to reduce risk of injuries and increase heart rate
• Stretching to increase range of motion and improve agility
• Ball handling drills to learn how to control the ball
• Passing: focus on developing the skill to correctly stop the ball and return it with the correct weight of pass.
• Dribbling: learning how to dribble in tight spaces so the player can control and maintain the ball in tough scenarios
• Shooting: striking the ball with the correct form to place the ball into the corners of the goal with precision

Sev is an excellent coach and has a great rapport with kids. Aside from teaching them soccer skills, he also focuses on social skills like discipline, patience, determination, and teamwork.
