More About Coach Sean
I coach varsity and JV girls basketball at Mountain View High School in Loveland, and I've worked with athletes across youth and high school levels since 2016, including flag football, soccer, and an AAU club program I founded. Mental fitness has always been the part of coaching I care most about: helping athletes manage pressure, reset after mistakes, and build the confidence to compete when it matters.
Alongside coaching, I train continuously through Mindvalley, including Vishen Lakhiani's 6 Phase Meditation, which I draw on for the visualization and focus work I do with athletes. I'm also a certified facilitator through Voltage Control and a Certified Change Enthusiast Practitioner. I work primarily with middle school through high school athletes.
I came to sports as a multi-sport athlete more than a standout in any one of them. I played a season of junior high football, competed in volleyball when my high school didn't have a football team, and played intramural flag football in grad school. Starting late and switching sports taught me firsthand how much of competing is mental: managing nerves, adjusting fast, and staying confident when you're not the most experienced one out there. I've spent years since learning how people perform under pressure, and I wish I'd had someone in my corner working on the mental side back when I was the one competing. That's a big part of how I coach now.
A typical session starts with a quick check-in to see where your head is and what's been weighing on you, in practice, in games, or off the court. From there we work on something concrete: pre-game routines, refocusing after a bad play, handling nerves, or building self-talk that actually helps instead of getting in the way.
We'll use visualization, breathing techniques, and guided mental rehearsal, a focused, relaxed state athletes use to picture themselves performing well and quiet the noise that gets in their way. We pair that with simple drills that put you under a little pressure so you can practice staying composed. You leave with one or two things to work on before we meet again, so the progress sticks.
