More About Coach Scott
I’m a behavior analyst dedicated to helping young athletes improve their cognitive behavior. In short, I help them think better so they can perform better. I have been very purposeful with my education to ensure I encompass breadth as well as depth. The highlights of my education include:
Undergraduate, Augustana College
-Major in Education and Physical Science
Graduate, Baker College
-Master of Business Education, Emphasis in Organizational Behavior
Post-Graduate Studies, Virginia Commonwealth University
-Group Dynamics
-Process Consultation
Post-Graduate Studies, Independent (Supervised)
-Emotional Intelligence
-Performance Psychology
-Neuroscience
Post-Graduate Studies, University of Pennsylvania
-Positive Psychology
Graduate Diploma, Clemson University
-Behavior Analysis
Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Beck Institute
I like to emphasize my most recent accomplishment with Clemson University. Behavior Analysis (a school of psychology) is a discipline that has been around for some time, however it has been gaining traction with many athletic teams as it focuses on operant behavior, reinforcement, and mindfulness acceptance. Other key factors include self-talk, private events, and self-management: areas that are significant when coaching mental skills.
Looking back on my middle/high school days, I recall struggling mentally and can certainly relate to young athletes and performers who battle mental roadblocks. As a father of athletes, I’ve seen too many players neglected when it comes to overcoming cerebral hurdles. After working with me you will have improved your focus, minimized distractions, learn to recover from frustrations, and develop action plans.
I have been coaching/counseling middle/high school students in youth groups for over 10 years. Over the past 5 years, I have worked with several local high school teams including Varsity Softball and Varsity Cross Country; I have also coached individuals and teams from travel Volleyball; and have conducted one-on-one training for Varsity Cross-Country, Varsity Swimming athletes, and Varsity Lacrosse.
Lastly, I was recently awarded "Adolescent Behavior Analyst of the Year 2023" (International Life Sciences Award) by Global Health and Pharma.
As a high-school athlete, I ran track, played basketball, and was a member of the weightlifting team. In college, I played intramural football and softball. I trained with the United States Marine Corps in Quantico in ’89 where I learned the essence of mind over matter. I currently enjoy rock climbing, biking, jogging, weight-training, boxing, and swimming. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Organization Behavior. I have completed post-graduate studies in multiple behavioral disciplines, and most recently earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Behavior Analysis.
All sessions focus on performance psychology tactics, mindfulness acceptance, resilience, and personal thought control. Using a unique fusion of Neuroscience, Behavior Analysis, Emotional Intelligence, Positive & Performance Psychology, and Group Dynamics, I'll give you a solid foundation of how the brain works to your advantage. You will also learn several techniques to get focused, stay focused, and recover from distractions and anger. Principles will translate into many other areas of your life including relationships, school, and work.

KC/Results (Testimonial)
Your boy wrestled on a hold new level. He blew through the competition. In a 52 man bracket . He took 2nd 🥈 in a really tough tournament. They had teams from as far as VA, NY , MD, and PA . He is becoming the kid to beat . He took notice from several colleges and coaches. His confidence is showing . Very proud of him making his 144 debut. He was the third seed . He pinned the second seed and lost to a decision on the 1st seed in the finals . He has a tournament at Atlee next weekend. (Friday and Saturday). Thanks for all you have done!
