More About Coach Scott

My name is Scott and I am a lifelong resident of Malden, MA. Baseball is my passion, it always has been and always will be. I began playing the sport at the age of 6 and still continue playing competitively.

I was a three and a half year starter in the centerfield at Arlington Catholic High School, twice garnering Catholic Central league All-Star nods. Over the three and a half seasons on varsity I compiled 86 hits, 74 stolen bases, 7 Home Runs and a .386 average. As a senior, I served as a co-captain for the team which meant I assumed the responsibility of conducting pre-game stretching, long-toss, soft-toss drills, among many others.

After high school, I continued my playing career at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. I contributed playing time in Centerfield for the team as well as achieving .300+ average for my two years.

Though baseball is my passion, I have also played competively basketball, lacrosse, football, soccer and ran winter-track during high school. All of which I was able to reach high levels of success.

As an upperclassman in high school and as a sophomore in college, I took an active role in helping to develop younger players in the program through off-season strength and conditioning and baseball oriented workouts.

My sessions always begin with at least five minutes of active warmups through stretching and light baseball drills. My specialties would be in playing the outfield, meaning how to properly approach a fly ball, charge a ground ball, how to get the correct angle on a deep ball, and building correct throwing technique and arm strength among others.

Hitting is probably the hardest thing to do in sports, which makes it one of the hardest activities to master. Over years of playing and working various drills, I have gained the knowledge of what works most effectively in making a player a better player. My drills with concentrate numerous types of soft-toss, tee work, dry swinging, and active batting practice.

I truly believe that I have the experience and knowledge to help make any client not only a better baseball player but also a better athlete by providing strength and conditioning, healthy living, and mental tips that will help anyone gain an edge on the competition.

Every workout will begin with active stretching and warmup to prevent injuries

The sessions will slowly progress from simple hitting drills in order to gage the client's abilities and ensure that the client has a firm grasp on]f the fundamentals. I will work closely with the client to make sure that they are ready to move on to the next set of drills.

Sessions will consist of multiple soft-toss drills, tee work, frontal underhand, dry swinging, bunting and regular batting practice. Each drill will be done with a specfic focus and will be worked on consistently to build muscle memory. Each session the client should expect to take 200+ swings to build muscle memory, which is extremely important to becoming a great hitter.

Along with hitting drills, I will provide some strength and conditioning equipment and advice that will help the client become a better athlete and a stronger baseball player.

Fielding drills can also be used if the client would like to. Though I do have some experience playing infield positions, my expertise is in the outfield. These drills will concentrate on properly approaching fly balls, charging grounders, getting in the correct mental state to know where the ball should be thrown during each play, and building arm strength among others.

*** Things to Bring ***
1) A bat - I highly stress using WOOD because if you can learn the fundamentals of hitting using wood you can easily apply them to using aluminum. Unfortunately the Vice Versa is not the case.
2) A glove
3) Plenty of hydration - Gatorade, water, etc. (No SODA or ENERGY DRINKS)
4) A good pair (or two) of batting gloves if needed. Prepare to get blisters and develop hitter's hands!
5) Proper athletic clothes like t-shirts, sweatpants, gym shorts, etc. and good athletic sneakers (running shoes, baseball shoes - try to avoid high top basketball sneakers).
6) MOST IMPORTANTLY THE DESIRE TO LISTEN, LEARN AND IMPROVE YOUR GAME!

Client Reviews

I couldn't ask for a better teammate and mentor than Scott. He was a senior in High School and the star centerfielder when I was a sophomore just coming up to varsity. I really struggled to adjust to the talent level of HS varsity play especially when it came to hitting but Scott wouldn't let me fail. I have never progressed as quickly in anything as I did when Scott started working with me to improve my swing and outfield play. He taught me the drills, strength & conditioning and mental state necessary to succeed to the best of my ability at baseball. Scott's real talent lay in noticing the subtle parts of my swing that were lagging behind and working to fix them as well as the talent to explain things in a simple, logical manner that is easy to follow. I truly cannot thank Scott enough for helping reach my potential which saw me replace Scott in CF and become a two time All-Star.
