More About Coach Sarah

I began coaching summer camps my Junior year of high school and continued to do so throughout my collegiate career at UW-Whitewater. Those camps included all ages, skills and male and female from 4 years old to 14 years old. I then was offered a Girls Basketball High School JV head coaching position in my Senior year at Whitewater with Lake Mills HS where I also assisted with the Varsity team. From there I began coaching for the Wisconson Lakers Girls AAU program and coached 6th-8th grade. I have also coached an 8th grade girls feeder team for Kettle Moraine, a 4th grade boys Optimist league team in Racine, and most recently coached a 4th grade girls feeder team out of Union Grove. I have privately coached players from those teams outside of normal practice times, as well coaching high school aged boys one-on-one and two athletes at a time. I enjoy working with all ages and skill levels and am experienced in coaching a wide variety of ages and having playing/training experience at the collegiate level that has proven to be beneficial in my coaching career.

Four year high school varsity basketball. All-County honors.
Collegiate Basketball at UW-Whitewater where I was part of a Final Four (3rd in the Nation) team my freshman year.
I was also a varsity track & field athlete in high school and played collegiate rugby for one year. I continue to remain active in sports, playing in adult leagues including softball, basketball and flag football.

Depending on what you are looking for, a typical session with me could include a good warm up with dynamic stretching. I would then put the athlete through a series of agility drills focusing on footwork, speed, balance and coordination. We would work on basketball drills consisting of ball handling, shooting--form, technique & quickness. Lots of repetition and technique breakdown & over-emphasis. We would end the session with conditioning and cool down + stretch. Just like I emphasize a good warm up, I emphasize a good cool down to reduce soreness and muscle tightness. As a former shooting guard I specialize in shot technique starting from the feet all the way to the follow-through. I also enjoy the strength & conditioning side of the sport and had gained a good amount of experience during my collegiate playing days that I continue to use & add to in my personal fitness life and coaching career.
