More About Coach Santesia
For three years, I was a head girls high school basketball coach. I have also coached AAU basketball with girls aged 12-18. I have trained all ages of boys and girls ranging form 5-21.
I started playing basketball at age of 12. I played all through grade school, on the collegiate level and the professional level. I competed at North Carolina State University under the legendary Coach Kay Yow and I also play for a short period in Switzerland.
I focus on athletes being a student of the game. Knowledge is power and that is true for this sport. The game is 80% mental and 20% physical. Each athlete will require different needs but having an open mind and always willing to learn and get better is fitting for all athletes. Fundamentals are key and that is what I start every session with. Then from there, I get into the specifics of what each particular athlete needs to work on. Throughout the session, we talk through the game so there is an understanding of when, where and why to use what we are working on.
