More About Coach Sam
Over 1,000 hours experience coaching at the youth level - individual, small group, and team sessions. This began in high school where I ran private sessions for 8-12 year olds. Small technical sessions working combination play, angles, and shooting against a wall. I then went on to coach in a larger group setting at UC Santa Barbara when we held community engagement sessions and later at Santa Barbara Soccer Club under director, Greg Wilson. This last year I continued with the community engagement piece coaching over 100 hours for the 7-8's age group before moving on to coach the U9 girls and U10 boys teams at One Knox SC youth programs. My experience extends to helping young athletes navigate the challenges and opportunities of college recruitment.
I began my soccer education at an early age, at Brophy High School and Sc Del Sol Soccer Club in Phoenix, AZ. Since, I’ve gone on to captain the UC Santa Barbara team in 2021 and 2022, earn first team all conference honors 2021 and 2022, and reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament in 2019. In 2023 I signed my first professional contract for One Knoxville SC where I made 30 appearances over 2 seasons.
My sessions will tend to focus less on positional aspects and more on the fundamentals of technique, spacing, situational awareness. I do so though running many interactional and adaptive passing drills. 1 on 1 sessions I will put my cleats on and work technique with the player. 1 touch, 2 touch passing, long range passing technique, turning out of pressure, change of pace to beat, and shooting. In small groups I will do much of the same while also offering adaptive passing patterns and 1v1's.
Note: I will train goalkeepers as well but as field players for a 'modern goalkeeper' session.

Coach Sam is great. he's tentative, knowledgeable and practices with the kids which is rare to see from coaches now a days. My son enjoyed his training session, and we look forward to booking more in the future.

Sam is a top coach and person. Not only did my son improve with great progress with regular sessions, he enjoyed training and began asking all new kinds of questions about the sport to me. Enjoyment, skills, and aspirations through the roof!
